An appreciation thread for our 3x Premiership Champion, 3x Coleman Medalist, 3x All Australian and 2x Jack Dyer Medalist.

Didnt seem to long ago he was running away from reporters and making an absolute Muppet of himself.

Watching his press conference yesterday, he has matured into a wonderful person and a fantastic leader of the club. He should be incredibly proud of the person he has become. One of the best reasons to support a club is to see these young draftees mature and become men right before our very eyes. We follow them closely from the moment they're drafted. Jack Riewoldt's story is as good as any and he could be the first Richmond player to play 300 games since Francis Bourke (?) If he plays 17 games this season.

Well done Jack🙌

Outstanding presser! What a leader! What an inspiration to start 2021! What a statement for his teammates, new draftees, fans, employees. I think Jack was just a few % off his game last year and will thrive with a settled home life.
Bonus points to Tzatziki for reminding me about Francis Bourke!

JR & Dylan: insightful :glowingstar::glowingstar::glowingstar::glowingstar::glowingstar:

JR is one of the best KPFs of the last decade. And now possibly one of the best leaders in the AFL. Will have a great career in media if he wants too. Smart articulate and thinks for himself - actually those aren't what's needed n the media nowadays ;) . Hope he gets back to his best and gets 4th Coleman.

"How the hell did we win it? We took every step wrong possible"

2021 is looking good after that comment.

To read between the lines. I can't imagine JR said anything about Dimma or Stack that will be contradicted in the near future. The symbolism of JR speaking at this season opening presser is deep, given the off season media scrutiny of Stack & then Hardwick. It says the ethos we have been operating under is still very much intact, and getting further embedded in the players psyches. The club is not broken.

Yep, he did a great job.
I wonder if there was a discussion, and Cotch didnt think it would have been right if he held the presser, given the conflict bw his and Hardwick family relationships.

still remember the day after being dropped from the leadership when he ran from the media to the station attempting to hide where ever he could on the way. he's come a long way since then. ironic because he'll probably end up in the media post his footy.

Multiple premierships mean media gigs.. part of what you win really.

Love that Jack hates Norf. Players know they dont want to go there

Sounded like the hate sprang from the trip together from G/Coast to Adelaide. When North were late. What Dylan says about the accommodation in Adelaide is interesting. North didn't handle the hub at all well. Mind you RFC ended up with hefty kebab fines. (& a flag)

How about that cover up from the AFL...

Also respect for independent shows like "that's good for footy".
So much more entertaining than the footy show and what it dished up over it's last 5 years of existence.

On one hand I think a JR who lives at home and sleeps in his own bed will lead to huge improvement. Balance that with kid #2 on the scene

Excellent appreciation thread. He handled that press conference better than ANYONE couldve at the club - including Peggy and Benny. Delicate subjects like that, even the best public speakers wouldve stumbled or left opportunities for the media to play on words... but Jack absolutely nailed it. Dimma and the Club have a lot to be thankful for Jack, but that was incredibly hard gig and it shouldnt be lost on anyone, that Jack stepped up, not Trent.

Yea that was completely understandable and deliberate, you don’t want cotch to be facing questions on how his mrs feels which is what the maggots would have focussed on

"The club released a statement addressing that power dynamic, saying they were satisfied after examining their human resources policy that they were comfortable in workplace terms with the situation, as marketing executive Alexandra Crow did not report to the coach."

thought she was NOT an executive ???

It's a good topic.
I wrote about this the other day.
Jack matured in the public view when he started doing the charity work for Maddie's match.
