Also, what? An equivalent scenario to a topless bar is an OnlyFans account. Both parties have consented for nudity, in both scenarios.

However, it would not be ok if a female employee of the topless bar was off work and approached by someone who requested her to take off her shirt. As such, it’s not ok for someone to send images to someone with an Only Fans account when they didn’t ask for it.

I never did say it was ok for Patton to send a dick pick, I said it shouldn't be compared to rape.

You missed the point about the topless bar completely, it was about context - it is Ok to complain about nudity, but not justified if it is well advertised and warnings provided. I think it is now acceptable to send someone a dick pick if you are courting and talking about having sex - maybe not for everyone - but I am sure it happens enough not to be considered rare or obscene.

I don't know how these youngsters broach the issue of sending nude pics, but I imagine asking a woman would be awkward - for the woman - if they say no they might look like a prude or not interested in the physical side of a relationship; if they say yes there a chance of looking like a ho. It is a pretty shitty place to put someone in. I don't think it as bad as sending a pic unsolicited, but it could explain why some men don't ask...maybe..at a stretch. TBH, I've got zero idea why Patton would do something so stupid, but judging by the conversation it wasn't to offend, it was to help further his relationship with her.

It appears Patton treats OnlyFans like a dating app (not excusing his stupidity at all). In the one edited text conversation that has been publicly published Coonan was treating like a dating app as well, in that context, sending a dic pic to someone who is trying to sell you their nude pics as a form of foreplay or preening isn't the same as sending Dick picks to a stranger, or even someone you know who may be intimidated, frightened or otherwise adversely affected. As stated previously, Coonan offered to have sex with Patton...after the dick pick. Her shock and disgust only became apparent months later - after it was obvious Patton was not going to pay her.

One of the injustices in this saga is that Patton cannot now defend himself without looking like a victim blamer, he just has to apologise, say it will never happen again, and do his best to move on.

Just had to look at who you support after that bit and I was right.
Well who is going to examine it any further? If it was an opposition supporter I'd probably just go by the headlines, not read the actual daily mail article, and bag him as well. I certainly called for him to be sacked when I first heard it and saw the CH 7 stuff.

A bit like when Dusty threatened to kill someone with a pair of chopsticks, or when Vlaustin/Short finger banged and groped Chol. I'm pretty sure it was Tiger supporters who first mentioned this might not actually be the whole truth, doesn't make it any less true because you have an interest in it.

And I never compared sending a dick pick to rape. I said that just because someone offers a service (in the context of Only Fans it is sexual images, in the context of prostitution it is sex), it is not acceptable to expect the service without consent.

Yes, of course topless bars have nudity. That is fine, everyone knows what to expect if they enter one. I am saying, just because it is a topless bar, it does not give the patrons an absolute right over what they can demand from the woman/waitress/employee, and there is still an element of consent and respect. So, if you are a subscriber to an Only Fans account, you can view the material you are paying to watch but it is inappropriate to demand anything else further to that service without consent.

Also, so just because you think a woman is either an angel (doesn't want a dick pic) or a whore (wants the dick pick), it justifies the male sending the dick pick? If you are unsure about the woman's desire (or you think it might put her in an awkward position), just don't send the photograph. It is that simple. There is no appropriate reason to send a dick pick, unless the woman explicitly asks for it.

The large majority of people who are supporting Patton are Hawthorn fans. I honestly don't think that is necessarily an indictment on Hawthorn fans, but the fact that the majority of football fans will be blind to a player's ill-character and inappropriate behaviour if the player is wearing the colour of the fan's team. It's pretty disgusting.

I don't reckon JP will be sacked. AFL have a history of sweeping s**t acts footballers have done to women that would be deemed way worse than this under the rug, this would be a strange one for them to draw a line in the sand with.

More likely to be "JP has undergone intense counselling etc, has learnt how to respect women blah blah mental illness, bla blah sorry 2 week suspension"

Watch it play out

They've usually been following the player a lot closer and might think they know their character. But they're probably judging it from curated Insta posts and club media releases and AFL media fluff-pieces.

How many AFL players are probably very grubby sleazeballs -(lots across all clubs),

But how many players have such a reputation (one at the moment).

If you follow your club's and players' social media they're all just fun-loving outdoorsy types who like cafes and mucking around at training or just love the hard running. Another example of social media giving a glimpse of a person's life which doesn't tell anywhere near the full story, but it's hard for people to discern that.

Nah, they only do that with serious crimes and/or star players.

Patton's is neither, so he'll be sacrificed for optics.

Of course. From the article I read, Patton didn't demand anything, he did ask if he was to be charged for the sex she was offering, and he did offer to suck her toes. Look at the actual situation without the hyperbole, he sent someone a dic pic, someone who told him that he should see her nude pics, someone who told him that she wanted to have sex with him. True, none of this gives him the right to send a nude pic, neither does it give him the right to send her a selfy. In fact it appears he has very few rights at all, even some the majority of us take for granted, like the presumption of innocence.

Also, so just because you think a woman is either an angel (doesn't want a dick pic) or a whore (wants the dick pick), it justifies the male sending the dick pick?
Huh? are you being deliberately obtuse? That wasn't the premise at all. Read it again - that is not even close to what I was saying. I said asking for permission may place a woman in an awkward position, so that may be a consideration whether to ask or not. It's like if I was consensually kissing a woman and went to feel her breast without permission, I know I probably should ask, but at what stage is it OK to just do it? I don't want to be doing a running commentary all the way through to home base, with some things there is implied consent. Some things you should definitely ask - a Dirty Sanchez, would be a nasty surprise, A pic to someone in the porn industry who says she wants to have sex with you is hardly the same. A pic to a tinder date you have just started talking to - yeah sure, you should ask, I would think it does depend on the circumstances.

And I never compared sending a dick pick to rape. I said that just because someone offers a service (in the context of Only Fans it is sexual images, in the context of prostitution it is sex), it is not acceptable to expect the service without consent.
I'll accept the premise that you were offering an analogy re: the sex worker comment, but really - why even consider relating it to rape victims? I think it demeans and undermines what rape victims endure, and it associated Patton's behaviour with serious sexual offences - I found it inappropriate

I don't think anyone has said it was OK for Patton to send the pic, I certainly didn't, I haven't read all the replies, so maybe someone else did. I have said multiple times I think he was foolish, at the minimum. I just do not think it was necessarily an ill-intentioned act, that isn't the same as saying it is OK.

Yeah you could be right. It still mystifies me as to how Wayne Carey is allowed to commentate games
