News here on Jez doesn't sound too concerning at all. And Danger is seemingly coming good now as well...

Gun recruit Jeremy Cameron has returned to running after suffering a minor hamstring strain last week and is still expected to be ready for the Cats' AAMI Community Series match.

Dangerfield has recently ramped up his running sessions with the Cats confident he'll be fit to tackle the Crows in seven weeks' time despite a heavily interrupted summer.

I believe he suddenly aged a few years only after agreeing to & then signing with Geelong

Prior to making his intentions clear, I'm pretty sure he was a key forward in his mid-20s who had a good number of years of football left; but something crazy seems to happen once a player joins Geelong and suddenly they are aged 2/3 years...
does it work both ways... if JC is approaching 30 at 27... can i be just over 45 at neatly 48?

guaranteed there will be a concussion in the prelim final this season where a player would normally be OK to play the GF
Chances are that if a player has been concussed in the preliminary final that they probably wouldn't actually be ok to play in the grand final

It's just that in the past we've somewhat turned a blind eye to these issues and tried to tell ourselves that the player is ok

I think we have got more out of Rohan than Dahlhaus and want to get a look at Evans

I'd also like to see Frank given some opportunities. And you can't say Close didn't show something last season when he played in the seniors as well.

Overall, there looks to be some promise amongst the small forwards group. And if that means that every player down there is forced to earn his spot each and every week, it will certainly be a good outcome for the club.

Dahlhaus is highly regarded at the club, both as a player and medical specialist.

According to that article:

Dahlhaus has been consulted by former Crows medical boss Steve Saunders

Saunders has been making Dangerfield go to Adelaide for treatment up to four times a week over the past month, but

Instead of making Dahl go to Adelaide like Danger, he has been visiting Geelong to treat Dahlhaus (and probably killing two birds with one stone by consulting him at the same time)

The new law regarding the man on the mark is made for runners like Rohan to move up the ground a bit he along with Smith and Clark should take full advantage of the space it creates.

I would have thought it was expressly made to stop blokes like Rohan getting on the mark and hurrying the kicker into kicking wide and shallow.

No I'm thinking Geelong player with the ball say Atkins and opposition player glued to the mark scenario and speedsters and good users running past for the hand ball receive. This is a great rule to bring back attacking footy even if that wasn't its intent.

Tuff rule for the man on the mark he can't take one step in any direction until the umpire calls play on or it's a 50mtrs
Outside the 2 arcs, it's probably better not to go on the mark, instead just patrol 10 metres behind it; at least that way, you're not taking yourself out of the play and automatically creating a loose attacker.

Really tough, considering how umps already just love penalising players on the mark for the umps' mistake in being too slow to call play on.

I still think 50 metres is too much for what is often both overlooked, and/or a subjective assessment that many would see differently.

Bugger

GEELONG’S ruck stocks have been dealt a blow just six weeks out from its first game of the season, with Darcy Fort re-injuring his knee at training.

Fort initially hurt the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee last October following the qualifying final loss to Port Adelaide, but has been training with the Cats since they returned to the track this summer.

He did not undergo surgery but was wearing a brace for structural support, which he is now wearing again following this latest incident.

The 28-year-old said it there was no time frame for his return as Geelong weighs up its options.

“It is a little bit frustrating,” Fort said.

“I haven’t had the best run with injuries the last 12 months, unfortunately. But, I’ll just get back to the grind and control what I can control and keep prepping myself for footy, whenever that is.

“A lot of gym work and a lot of sessions in the heat room. I’m doing as much as I can, and when I can start working on my knee again, I’ll start doing it.

“We’re still assessing it. We had to get the previous scans, and we’re just getting some second opinions now.”

Fort signed a new deal at the end of last year, extending his stay at the Cats until at least 2022.
