In November, the AFL confirmed the total player payments and additional services agreement for 2021 would be cut by nine per cent, with players to take a 3.5 per cent pay cut on average.

The report notes that, while winners of the award this year wouldn’t get a one-off bonus payment, it would likely be worked into their salary for a later year on their contract.



* One list manager ... the AFL risked having “18 Collingwoods” if clubs were forced to back-end so many contracts to stay under this year’s cap.

A 3.5% pay cut is nothing if you are on $500,000 a year.
