In a private conversation, the governor’s top aide admitted that data was withheld on nursing homes, where more than 10,000 New Yorkers have died during the pandemic.

This after he has written a book praising himself, accepting an Emmy for his great work and blaming everybody but himself for anything that has gone wrong due to Covid.

He's blamed the people who've caught Covid for it, chastised reporters for asking reasonable questions, undermined De Blasio's attempts to do anything on it to centralise all power in himself and totally bungled it the whole way (while lavishing praise on himself, writing a book about how brilliant his response was just as the second wave amped up).

He should indeed face prison, but instead many will do all they can to ensure he gets reelected next year, and he'll be spoken up as a viable presidential contender for 2024.

NY poli's are loved in NY because of their rough edges and their attitude. That kills them in the rest of the country to be pres however. They like/love them, just prefer they stay in NY.

Same with Brown from Cali - an incredibly popular and successful leader in Cali, but would be DOA for a national run.

and same with GOP southern governors - for most what makes them win in the south kills them elsewhere
