HL has performed a wonderful service to our club, out-manouvering and ousting Ed. Thanks HL. Much appreciated. We owe you one.
Dumb way to justify your own personal bias.

With Ed gone, Bucks is now the face of the club. Still we have heard nothing from him in regard to the report.

His players have issued a public apology. When will he make a statement, and what will he say?
You would expect Bucks to speak up sooner than later. There's no doubt the journos will ask him questions at some point, better not being too close to round one.

The club will still try to manage the media coverage as best it can and have obviously decided to let things settle first.

Despite the constant thirst for the next person to throw under the blowtorch, a bit of common sense from the club may save sponsorship dollars and a senior coach.

Patience grasshopper, not everything must be done according to your schedule.

... after the sh*tshow of the last 10 years, regardless of his or the clubs intent.

The vast majority of the comp would gladly swap their 10 year shitshow for our 10 year shitshow.

we should be having more flags than shitshows, but sadly the shitshows outnumber the flags...

The reaction to the events of the last few weeks clearly demonstrates that there is more to footy clubs than simply winning flags.

Half-agree.

Simon Buckley’s comments are just one man’s opinion, and he’s entitled to them but they aren’t necessarily newsworthy.

The answers to the interview are just outright bizarre. I can see how you might go along to get along within a club, and accept a nickname you don’t like to fit in, but to volunteer it (and the chimpanzee answer, which actually lends weight to the potential non-racial use of the nickname) to a newspaper is beyond baffling.
This gets to the crux of the issue. He volunteered the name to fit in with what we NOW understand to be a racist culture. Back then it was the norm, which doesn’t make it ok but it was ubiquitous across society. He did it to fit in with society, nobody branded him a chimp he did it himself.

Branding the club and individuals racist when nobody at the time understood the issue is entirely wrong. This sort of behaviour can easily happen in a footy club type environment. Harry’s mental problems surface and he looks for a reason and somebody to blame...fast forward 10 years and presto it’s clearly unacceptable to have somebody called a chimp, the fake news media jump all over it...we lose an innocent man and our perfectly healthy club is tarnished forever.

Of course in hindsight you would have managed it better, but the reality is most people would not have seen an issue with somebody calling themselves a chimp 10 years ago.

I don’t know how to post links from Facebook but if you have a chance go look at Kyron McGuire’s Facebook post yesterday on Eddie. He posted it yesterday and it’s a perspective I think most people should know.

Why? No on field success and the perpetual shooting ourselves in the foot that probably hampered that.

Well,

- At least we didn’t get caught up in some PED drugs scandal that ruined our club, got half of our list suspended, that we’re yet to recover from, and haven’t played a final in the last 10 years.

- At least we didn’t get caught up in some tanking scandal, end up with a revolving door of senior coaches and be perennially rubbish.

- At least we weren’t promised “I don’t see how we can lose a game season” only to win the wooden spoon ... um how many times, 3?

- At least we haven’t been handed an embarrassment of draft pick riches by the AFL year after year after year only to miserably fail to meet expectations (Heck, if Collingwood had been given half the draft picks of GWS or Suns or Carlton or Melbourne or St Kilda, our fans would expect us to be so totally dominant that anything less than us winning two Premiership cups on Grand Final day would be a failure)

- At least we haven’t had to deal with mass exodus of young players from the club, and the club not being able to retain any young talent beyond their initial two year obligation.

- At least we haven’t been reliably mediocre over the last 10 years, failing to even reach finals let alone win one, let alone reaching prelim, let alone reaching a GF.

- At least our club hasn’t been embroiled in an off-season camp scandal that has sent it tumbling down the ladder from Grand Fimalists to Wooden Spooners in quick time.

- At least we’re not Freo.

Isn’t the point of winning flags so that we feel good about ourselves? And that we don’t feel rubbish about ourselves? And that we get the respect of others? And that we don’t get the disrespect of others? And ...? And ...? And ...?

And can’t those things be achieved / undermined by other means? Such as our club being branded / not being branded a bunch of racists?

At least we haven't had to spend a fortune on buying premiership memorabilia

No, but there was a thread back in 2017 asking if Ed should go. Whilst certainly not representative of the entire membership base, the attached poll gave an indication that BF thinking at the time was a resounding yes.

Of course, then the review took place and we made the grand final. The review did recommend board members serve set terms, something Ed ignored.

I bet he wishes he hadn’t ignored that now.
I stopped reading after "there was a thread"

But hey, we all hates Beamsy too ey? So this tweet is probably irrelevant I guess.

It's pretty irrelevant. First Beams lies about Ed not saving him from his $200k debt to the bikies (impressive effort to make it about him), secondly, the whole point is that people like Beams - that being white fellas - wouldn't notice the "systemic" troubles Collingwood has had in dealing with issues of race.

It has turned into a total pile-on, but that's because footy media is a pack of shitbag vultures. Nothing shocking there. That doesn't change the fact that Ed's time was well and truly up - just shouldn't have been in such a way.

You're talking about other clubs, there is no known universe that we performed at potential on or off field in that time. reaching prelims and gf's only to lose is only hope lost not the goal realized.
