Once Usman started jabbing it was over. Great fight. Odd to see a welterweight drop a guy with a stiff Jab especially from Usman who's a dominant grappler. Real claim to be the pound for pound best.
Not even top 5 pound for pound best.

That is some raw emotion right there.

Hard not to be moved by that.

How can people hate Usman? I don't get it.

Does his job, does it well.

This is a tremendous sport. Title fights are something else.

What? Watch his interviews
He switched between humbled, arrogant, jealous like no other. He's constantly telling people to keep energy but he has multiple personalities.
Seems like he's always trying to be what someone else likes in every situation

Apart from Thompson. Who else does he have to beat? He's cleaned the division. Literally has to move up for another challenge. Today was probably the second time he's lost a round in the UFC

It's like he doesn't know who he's supposed to be at any one time. If he was just himself, even if that is the dullest of his personalities, it would be so much better.

100%
I like Whittaker and Khabib - real and respectful
I like Colby
I like Masvidal
Bisping etc
Kevin Holland's straight talking is endearing

Usman just isn't anything, he's always contradicting himself. I think if he just stayed arrogant or humble I'd like him more

Jones
Khabib
Adesanya
Nunes
Stipe

All infront of him. I would argue Whittaker and Holloway could easily be ahead of him aswell considering the work they've done in their divisions

Is this a troll post fam?

Because if so, you got me.

I'd pay $100 to see Usman vs Khabib.

But it ain't gonna happen, because Khabib knows he'd get rekt.

I say this as a Khabib fan.

Jones/Nunes/stipe fair enough. As pound for pound is super subjective . I honestly don't think Khabib will come back. Disagree with Israel. I think it's split between him and Whittaker for the best of that division

Holloway 100% agree with. He lost two decisions by a bees dick so ild argue he wasn't really defeated as both for me where not sure who was gonna win at the end of both fights (Alex probably won the first)

That was a crazy performance by Usman in the end, most men don't recover from that.

Yeah he shits me but how can you knock this bloke inside the octogon he is unbelievable.

Don’t care for Usman v Masdival.
Usman will destroy him.

I want Edwards v Wonderboy winner gets Usman.

Masdival v Colby.
I'll be won over if Usman stands v Masvidal and wins

Jesus needs to beat Usman to win the belt not the other way around.

Just like Woodley was doing during the title run you do what's needed to retain.

Yep. And Dana and the UFC brass bagged the * out of Woodley for that thought pattern

Yet praise Snoozeman.

Weird that

3 mins into first round

'both these guys dealing with custody issues, neither allowed to see their kids, [ewell ?] doesn't even know where his son is'

-Jon Anik

I love Anik as a commentator, and even though I'd normally not like this kind of comment, it wasn't as cringey as you might think.

I think Anik truly does take interest in these guys not just as fighters but as men.

The narrative on r/mma is that Anik was fed this by ESPN who apparently have a habit of using 'traumaporn' during sports coverage.

I'm embarrassed I didn't know that or think of that.

Makes perfect sense.

Now it has got me wondering just how much of Anik's commentary is really his, and how much is script.

Modello, brewed for those with a fighting spirit...

Yeah he's not authentic, that would be the problem, great fighter though.

Usman a much more enjoyable fighter then Woodley ever was.

Burns fight was fantastic.
Colby fight was one of the best I have seen.

Just alot of hate for one of the best ever in that weight class, I can't remember the last Jones fight I have enjoyed, doesn't mean I can't respect what he has and continues to do.
