The Pre-Season Supplementary Selection Period (SSP)

If we're going to get someone then now is the time. We either take a chance on someone not drafted, or we wait until mid-year, then with pick 10-18 we're grabbing a bland midfielder, HBF or the like. The worst option would be grabbing another Sutcliffe type player who wasn't good enough to stay on the list of another club. Odds are that's the likely route taken though.

I wouldn’t be against giving Pagmore another lifeline if he can string some footy together over West

I still think we could go another young tall defender, even though it's not alarm bells ringing. Hartlett, McKenzie and Jonas are getting on, and Aliir is 27.
We have: Pasini.......( others???)
Particularly a fullback specialist.
I'm not informed enough to suggest a name.
I like Corcoran and Edwards but it wont happen.

Still say we wait until mid season for the gem, whether it be a key defender or whatever.

Problem is the mid-season draft is just that, a draft. If we go anywhere near as well as we hope we well this year, the 'gem' will be gone well before our pick.

You are correct but reality is, if that was what we were thinking we'd of probably taken a punt during the draft on one of the players we have our eyes on. So very much suspect we sit back and watch the players we are interested in develop.

How many other clubs have list spots open currently ?

Saints have three spots available; Melbourne, Richmond and Collingwood each have two; Carlton, North, Essendon, Sydney and us one each:

We wont be joining a lucky-dip mid-year draft raffle IMO ... By the tone of all the talk it looks like it is Surman's if he can prove his worth in the Maggies

This was at the end of the Tyson Goldsack article published on afl.com.au today:

The Power have one spot open for this year's Mid-Season Draft left over from last year's Rookie Draft and don't intend to use it in the pre-season supplemental period up to March.

Instead, expect the Power to land a mature option in the June intake to play a role immediately in the back half of the year in what they hope is a tilt at a premiership.

I remember Michael Lipson playing reserves at Port, was more rover size than the much more generously proportioned Surman.

Lipson and Port Adelaide, quite synonymous names.

His a nice size this lad hopefully he can really make the most of his opportunities .

I guess the reasoning is right now there is no queue, whereas if we wait and are doing as well as we expect, we will have up to 17 clubs picking ahead of us, thinning the field.
Pretty much.
I suspect we won't add to our list at all and go with what we have now.
Means one less delisting to make at year's end.
