Really? How many goals is he going to kick in his first season?
Came into the preseason nursing some groin troubles. Certainly has the size and endurance to impact this year though

Depends how many games he plays. He will straighted up their attack though and facilitate more contested ball opportunities.

Rowell basically played 4 games and was BOG in 3 of them.
9 Brownlow votes in basically 4 games.
Walsh got 6 votes from 22 games in his first season.
Rowell was on track for approx 50 votes from 22 games.
Sure but it was also an insanely small sample size, Rowell was great but it is tough to get up week in week out.
No way to know how he copes over 22 games.
It doesn't matter, it still shows the vast gulf between how he was going and how Walsh went in his respective first season.
One was excellent for his age, the other was excellent for any age.
But it does matter, if he started to struggle over the next 18 games no one would be saying he was the best first year player. In reality he played an amazing 3 games.

The guy said he'd never ever seen a first year player be that good and someone else then asked about Walsh, and the simple fact is that Walsh in his first year wasn't that ridiculously good.
Even if Rowell had played all year and by some miracle didn't poll another Brownlow vote, he still got 50% more votes than Walsh did in his first year.
And the fact remains that he was on track for a 50 vote season (for 22 games), while Walsh from 22 got 6.
But if you reckon Walsh was as good then awesome. You're free to have that opinion.
Lord - even Fyfe couldn't do this and he's Mr. Brownlow as he gets his votes in a s**t team. Does someone pay you to say this?

Walsh Rising star, 22 and under team both years, AFLCA best young player 2020 suggests the gap is not that big. Rowell small sample size with little opportunity for coaches and players to respond. Rowell is great but, Walsh is not far behind.

Give coaches and players a chance to put in the work on him. He is not going to be BOG 3 of every 4 games in his career...
I agree it's exceptionally unlikely and don't personally believe for a second that he would have kept up that ridiculous level of performance, but that's what actually happened (he was going at 50 vote pace), so that's all we have to go by, and judge his performance on.
The rest is pure speculation.

If Walsh was anywhere near as dominant wouldn't coaches and players have likewise responded to how he was going and thus reduced his output as a result?
The evidence (not getting his first Brownlow vote until his 12th game for instance) suggests that they didn't feel the need to.
It's not like he started like a house-on-fire like Rowell did and then the opposition clamped down on him and his output slowed, as a result.
I must congratulate you on how well you managed to miss the point there, excellent work.
Well no what we can do is understand that 4 games is way way way too small of a sample size to extrapolate any meaningful projections from his numbers.
What we can do is acknowledge he played 3 amazing games and anything beyond that is pure speculation.
