Did they only let Idiots in to watch the Tennis?

Dave your wisdom is strong and savage in equal measure. :) (smiley inserted so you know I mean that in a good way)

And certain people with health conditions that qualify. EDIT: No you are correct. Those with disabilities and immune conditions are in group 2
I played around with it and it seems that those you mentioned might be in group two which might mean they receive Pfizer vaccine if the 10 million ordered is correct. Although not sure if it means 5 million of first dose and 5 of second.

Covid talk is a bit overdone.

Victorian Royal Commission into Crown Casino announced this arvo:

Watching the NSW regulators take on James Packer, I inwardly lamented that the same wouldn't happen in Victoria. There always seemed to be too many friendly connections between regulator and regulated.

Maybe not. Early days, but still feels like a victory.

Wouldn't that be in the Politics Thread?

I would at least like the option of getting out of here if the opportunity became available. As already explained, leaving for 3 months is an accepted reason for leaving the country. If my Thai mate were paroled, I would take Thailand's expensive long term tourist visa option - I can probably do this whether or not I am vaccinated as the 14 day quarantine there will most likely be retained. I need to be in the country to help set him up when he is released.

If Cambodia provided a similar visa option, I would jump at the chance to avoid another winter here. Having the jab is an extra layer of security but may also become a requirement and potentially a quarantine waver overseas and here. At my age, this is my last chance to spend 6 months or more overseas. Australia is going with the 3 month break between jabs, and I imagine the earliest possible time to leave the country with both of them would be late August, the end of winter.
For your own health, I’d make sure I was vaccinated before I even considered leaving the safety of Australia.

Given the limits placed on crowd numbers, tournament attendance would suggest that Victorians did not vote with their feet in support of the open. Crowd numbers were so poor that 2 for 1 tickets were on offer at one stage. I did not watch a second of any of the games so my information is second hand, but it seems it's the mention of the state government rather than the vaccines that caused the booing.

EDIT: Though if Djokovic is an anti vaxxer, that also explains it.
The tournament was more about eyes on screens than bums on seats. International eyes that promoted Melbourne and Australia as a destination post Covid.
And your 2 for 1 ticket offer was for the early rounds on outside courts. Hardly worth risking your health for. But makes for a good story.
Listen to the tape, the booing was definitely the vaccine and its ability to open us up.
The booing definitely also occurred when government was mentioned, but that was later in the speech.

Another 0 day. 3 more and we are in the clear from the Holiday Inn outbreak which would be an excellent result.

Whilst Sky News isn't too many people's preferred source of news, they seem to have an interesting piece on at 8pm tonight. Big Shots - which sounds like it will rip into the anti-vaxxers. Good.
