F: Rowe, Himmelberg, McAdam
HF: Lynch, Walker, Sloane
C: Jones, Crouch, Sholl
HB: Smith, McAsey, Hamill
B: McPherson, Butts, Brown
1R: O'Brien, Keays, Laird
I: Hately, Schoenberg, McHenry, Thilthorpe

We've got a thin midfield - Pedlar, Berry, et al are unlucky to miss out and Frampton could come in for Himmelberg no problem. Sloane is lucky to make the team and if Lynch has his usual slow start... Fogarty or Worrell

I'm very glad we've got an SANFL team this year

We aren't rest our hopes on the guy, stop making sh!t up.

He's performed well thus far this year, Berg has not
Are you playing Frampton over Thilthorpe? Someone needs to come out for him. We went through the same thing last year with Frampton for when the real stuff starts he doesn't deliver just as he hasn't delivered for the last 6 years. No point investing games into a player that will not have a long term career at the club. The best options up forward are Thilthorpe, Himmelberg and Walker(at this stage). A better option which I know the club won't try is Thilthorpe, Himmelberg (as your key KPF's) and Worrell off half forward. He is a forward. Those lineups may not occur earlier in the season but I know they will finish that way if they are serious about winning games. Fogarty is the major concern. If he can't win the spot from an aging Walker (who is likely in his final year) his career shouldn't be continuing with us.

In regards to Himmelberg his 2nd half of the year against teams in season who were trying to win (as opposed to mickey mouse preseason games) was outstanding and he was clearly our best tall forward. To neglect that form for a player that has played 8 games in 6 years and is a preseason specialist is embarrassing. The future of our forward line is Thilthorpe, Himmelberg and Worrell. The club should move on Fogarty, Walker and Frampton as quick as possible.

Unfortunately our club has a knack for trying to reinvent the wheel instead of making decisions based on what the evidence suggests. The weekend was a prime example. Worrell, Pedlar, Thilthorpe, Berry all neglected at selection after being some of the best performed the week before. Instead we go with Kelly, Lynch, a cooked Sloane in the middle, Seedsman in the middle, Fogarty and Frampton over Thilthorpe and Himmelberg. The same old tired formula that has proven to fail. Why? Because we are a mediocre club.

I want to see Himmelberg actually try this weekend, because yes at the moment I'm picking Frampton.... And that's not what I want.

And I'm picking RT over Fog

I'm playing Frampton not Berg at this point, love the rest though. I suspect Crouch might miss R1 which gives Hately a reprieve

Brown Butts Doedee
McPherson McAsey Smith
Sloane Crouch Sholl
O'Brien Laird Keays
Lynch Walker McHenry
Rowe Himmelburg McAdam
Hately Schoenberg Hamill
Jones

Fogarty needs to get past Walker. Thilthorpe not to be rushed.
Pedlar and Berry to get a month of SANFL to ease them in.
Worrell similar.
Borlase, O'Connor and Newchurch if they dominate SANFL to be considered.
Depth. HINGE,Kelly, Murphy, Mackay, Seedsman, Davis.
Talia in for Butts when ready.
McAsey pick 6 needs to be given his chance.

Going to be interesting to see if we give Nick Murray the last list spot this week because my understanding is he can't play in the Community series game against Port if he's not officially a Crow?

If we sign Murray you'd have to assume he's going to play

Not necessarily immediately as think we were always looking to sign someone.
I think Shorty means next weekend moreso than the season. He can't play in the weekend's AFL sanctioned game against Port unless he's signed on would be my understanding, after all he did play in the "main" game last weekend.

Updated round 1 team after SANFL trial v Norwood and pre Crows v Powaa.

Brown Butts Hinge
Smith Doedee Hamill
Sholl Crouch Sloane
McAdam Thilthorpe Walker
Rowe Himmelberg Jones

ROB Laird Schoenberg

Keays Berry McPherson Pedlar/Worrell

*The two players i'm not sure on is Thilthorpe and Himmelberg. I would pick them but match commitee may go with Fogarty and Frampton or alternatively they may with Himmelberg and one Fogarty/Frampton. I get the feeling Thilthorpe will need to smash it tomorrow to play round 1. He may not play regardless. Match commitee will likely pick Kelly as well unless he is injured. If Kelly is picked then they will probably not play Hinge. I'm not sure if Jones really deserves a round 1 berth. He is likely the most vulnerable and needs to play well tomorrow.
