In terms of young midfield talent, they’re ahead of where Brisbane were at in 2016, but behind in the KPP stakes.

Hawthorn. Aging list and little top talent coming through. DGB helps and Scrimshaw might come good, but Clarkson is really going to have to work his magic if they're going to compete in the next few years.
NoGavin Excell are Hawthorn in crisis?
Hawthorn Reborn.No
They have moved beyond that to a position of Hope and Renewal
Need someone to photoshop Clarko’s head on the chest burster.
Yeah it's not a great look when you're getting schooled by a potential bottom 4 side.North Melbourne

There's a very good reason for that....I'm convinced people just don't watch NM games.

Other than maybe Goldstein and Stephenson I don't think I would recognise any North Melbourne player on the street. I would have recognised Ben Brown and Majak Daw but of course they are gone now.
Ben Cunnington could walk right up to me and I would not have a clue he was an AFL player unless he told me his name.
Is that Clayton Oliver playing his usual role as an inside mid ?
Hawthorn
List is in a diabolical shape and having clarkson will make no difference.
The super coach is not so super without super players

Downie and Brockman will both be best 22 this year. That's 2 draftees from last year. Add that to Day, DGB and hopefully Finn Mcguiness from the past 2 years and the young stocks are looking OK. As I said the youth isn't that bad. Just not exposed to senior level yet so everyone's think they are nobodies. No list is that bad that you cant do great things in 2 drafts. Hawks have got Phillips, Downie and Maginness cheaply in 2 trading periods. Day and DGB with earlier picks.
Size, speed, Smarts, Endurance. Things sadly lacking with a small bodied midfield especially with Smith, Hill, Henderson, Scully all gone.
We liked that DGB was drafted with the first pick but did wonder if full back was our glaring hole going forward. It seem the club was right
What is wrong is deliberately gutting your side and killing the culture. that is a ten year process
4-5 years is a stretch. Not gonna lie, feeling pretty unenthusiastic about the next 4-5 years right now
