Harmes (D6), Neale + 90k

or

Stewart (D3), Zerrett + Potentially saving a trade (upgrading Harmes)

Group A: Petracca, Ridley, Stewart, Taranto & Flynn
or
Group B: Gawn, Cripps, Z Williams, H Clark & F MaCrae?
This is tough...

Gawn > Petracca
Cripps < Ridley
Zilliams < Stewart
H Clark < Taranto
F Macrae < Flynn (only cause he’s a ruck)

That said Ridley/Clark and Cripps/Taranto are probably better comparisons. In which case I’d say Ridley and Cripps.

A. Reluctantly.

This decision is killing me. It's the last decision I have to make because I've locked in every other premo I've picked. Basically it's 12 rock-solid keepers vs 13 keepers which includes a speculative pick

Dusty + Clark + Dow + Daniher
vs
Docherty + Scott + Butters/Taranto/De Goey/LDU/Phillips + $163k/$180k/$199k/$201k/$232k to spend on a cash cow

Currently leaning towards the 1st option because Clark/Dow/Daniher look like great cash cows that will make good coin quickly, so it's hard to drop them

Thoughts?

I've been looking at the same thing - I've settled on the first option.

happy to wait and see on the breakout contenders then pick up the right one

1 for me. Feel like I'd rather 3 potentially really solid cows over an extra keeper this year.

If Scott is a must have rookie you can probably correct him R3 regardless.

I've ended up with Doch, DeGoey, Dow & Scott - but you may be short by a few $K

It's a tad more risky, but I've taken a risky approach to my team this year - YOLO

Dusty - shown no real interest until heading to finals

Doch - is getting lots of poss, just need to clean up his kicking
Dow - first full preseason I believe
DeGoey - great player, injury prone though. But, you know him better
So 2 potential keepers vs one (Dusty)

Laird vs Short

I'm batting only 4 deep in the mids so I do like the flexibility of potentially swinging Laird to the mids if/when need be, but I'm also not confident of him averaging 105+ as an inside mid in a full uncompromised season. Where as Short looks likely (at this stage at least) to greatly benefit from the new kickout & man on the mark rules and go 110+ but also at a greater risk of copping a hard tag than he was previously. 45k price difference also a factor. Weighing all those things up I'm still undecided. Plz sway me with some BF logic. :$

Why don't you think Laird can be a 105 midfielder in a regular season? He was far and away his team's best mid last year and now that 2021 has rolled around I don't see anyone else on their list taking that role from him. Surely him and Crouch are the main men? If it's ability I don't see that holding him back either. Guy looked like he was hating footy until that move and he took to the midfield like a duck to water. I'd still think Laird will score marginally more than Short though I do have both guys presently. If I had to pick one I reckon I'd still pick Laird. He's a proven premo in the backline so got a safe floor but I think he can end up a a 105-110 midfielder.

Jiath v Young v J Clark v Fantasia

I don't trust Fantasia's body. Jiath looked good and like he'll score very well but virtually no Hawks supporters seem to have confidence he'll keep the spot. Clark would be a lock if he played for just about any other team. I've got him but I'm really nervous about him holding his spot. Young I would like but that extra 30k hard to find. 2nd year or not I reckon he can average 70 - 80 and be a perfect stepping stone.

Young > Clark > Jiath > Fantasia

Sound logic. I would love for Jiath to get a good run at it, looked the goods against my mob, but as you say JS is the concern. Fantasia I never really considered cos of his body and the forward stints, but thought I’d chuck him in there to gauge people’s thoughts. Up to like 20% ownership now. Cheers for the input.
