Anyone else remember Mundy streaming out from goal to be on the receiving end of a Neale pass? Siren sounds. Mundy kicks the goal for a come from behind win against the Demons at the G.
Substitute Neale with Serong or Cerra and that is what Mundy can do when stationed in the square. Ultra-smart footballer who will lead to the right spot every time.

It was the Tigers and I was at that game. Neale was quoted after the game as saying he couldn’t see Mundy but saw a hole and knew someone should be leading into it. Of all the forwards on the ground only Mundy was smart enough to be leading into that hole. He’ll go alright as a forward, but like Fyfe is also very important in the middle, I reckon they’ll both spend about 25% of the game forward each, which fills half that position. Acres,Aish, Cerra can all rotate through there as well instead of going to the bench. Which means we’ll likely start with only 5 forwards.

I was fortunate enough to be at that game also. We had played well for the first three quarters and then Richmond totally dominated the final quarter.

Their crowd went bananas when they hit the front near the final siren. Last centre bounce and Sandi got it going our way, Neale kicked to Mundy and he goaled after the siren, such a great feeling.

Well it won't be Mundy's youth and athleticism that will make him impact up forward. His nous, wisdom, experience and footy smarts will get him there 100%, flying under the radar a bit should help too.

Is it just me that thinks Mundy will not be an asset in the forward line?

If he's not on the ball I think his leg speed will limit his ability on the lead and he's not exactly a threat overhead.

Ok, now I feel dirty.

Mundy has never had leg speed, he has “warp body”, just cruises around defying nature’s norms. Moves from spot to spot, how, .... we will never know.

I’d like to see Serong and Cerra get amongst the goals this season. Other clubs already know Fyfe and Mundy can kick them, but if the next generation start doing it that’ll rattle things.
They Have to and there's no excuse not to
JLo needs to be very bloody firm that is an expectation of them

The coach’s job is a little deeper than that. We really need to find something different forward of centre that gets midfielders into goal kicking situations. Getting those boys to drive through the 50 meter arc and have a shot if our lone tall forward is getting steamrolled, or involved in some set plays at forward 50 stoppages.

If the players aren’t implementing the game plan, then there’s no excuse.

Unfortunately, I think Melbourne win this by 2-4 goals. Too many injuries and no forward line for us.

Melbourne - 84
Freo - 65

I'm confident enough that we'll win that I see us as having no excuses to lose this game, which we really don't. Injuries to Lobb and Walters aren't valid excuses in my eyes.

We're paying $2.70 for the win on Sportsbet. Reckon there's a fair bit of value there although punting on games I think we should win hasn't been a profitable hobby for me 😔

Hey Freo fans..
whats the go with Nathan Wilson? i see he played for Peel Thunder in the reserves as part of preseason, not on injury list and not mentioned anywhere really... fallen out of favour?

Very unsure with Wilson to be honest! There was talk that his kid was in hospital over the practice matches so it might be a reason why he's not in the 1's, we also have a hell of a lot of depth in the backline and he could have returned out of shape, there has been honestly no word on him all pre-season. I personally would expect him to be making his way into the 1's pretty quickly if his kid is alright, but unsure on the whole situation really.

If it's dreamteam draft related I would probably leave him out :thumbsu:

I can see us grinding out a win or losing. I've completely lost faith to be totally honest. We were told 2020 was going to be a flag assault and I'm not even confident we make finals this year.

And even if we do make finals, our list is so full of holes we will only be making up the numbers. Not to mention that there's no glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Our forward line is just woeful.

Matera, Hogan, McCarthy, Lobb, how much have we wasted trying to fix our forwardline? Only to get rid of them for nothing because our rookie coach can't pull them into line. Yet again we will have players like Banfield in the forwardline and he shouldn't even be playing anymore.

We are looking at guys like Sturt and Treacy like they are the great white hope, because we need one. Fyfe's 30 this year.

I don't really care what anyone says, now all the dust has settled and we sacked another senior member of staff that got us to a GF in 13 (and what a surprise it didn't magically fix any of the problems) there is no doubt in my mind that sacking Ross prematurely was a mistake. There is no way there wasn't some fallout from it from some of the best 22 players and it also brings into focus the fact that the club is not actually focussed on winning a premiership.
