It's been happening since Socrates. Literally.

It's no coincidence that the wisest man of all time would rather drink poison than put up with the political idiocy of his time.

Literally.

Starting to notice an increase in mates of my vintage bemoaning school and university leavers coming into their workplace as entitled, disrespectful etc etc.

I try to remind them of how we were often viewed at the same age, but alas this slide into grumpy old man is inevitable for some.
That’s a completely different issue to wokeism. Sh** wokeism started from academics in the late nineties and early 2000s who are now in their 60s.

wokeism and older generations being biased against younger generations are not equivalent terms. Wokeism is a view that says race, gender and sexual preference is highly important to identity and that culture should be passed down bloodlines. It’s a view, however that is infecting many from the younger generations. Just as socialism did in most of the 20th century all the way up until the 1970s.

Wisest man of all time?
I prefer I.F. Stone's take of the trial. Anti-democratic Socrates was a cosh-carrying hypocrite of the highest order.

Wasn’t Socrates found guilty of abusing young boys and sentenced to death? The poison wasn’t his choice. It was his punishment.
Students of Socrates overthrew the democratically elected officials of Athens (twice) and murdered 5% of the male population.
At the 'second' (i.e. punishment) trial Socrates goaded the jury by suggesting he receive a stipend for life as punishment.

well we always like our own parody... but we also like to carry our handbags with no guns.

park.o role... or parody... we are all just playing games with names, words, with our gorgeous other halves...

getting cheesy cheeky with it...

This has nothing to do with wokeism. Wokeism is not another term for leftism. Especially left wing economic policies.
That is a good point.

There is quite a coalition under the progressive tent and I think the progressives only tolerate the racism of the woke because it keeps the rest of the occupants from realising their issues aren't about race, they are about class - and as soon as the progressive tent realises that they will go after the elites in their own group who both built and operate the systems of power that they claim to be against.

It would make for an interesting subspace cable network reality show.

Well...........the wisest man of all time was naturally...........of course...................an anarchist.

Which makes him the ideological polar opposite of wokeist statism.

I think this would make a sound improvement in contemporary times.

Overthrow the government and eliminate the existing bureaucracy. Win-win.

As previously mentioned, older generations have accused younger generations of being useless campaigners since ancient Greek times. As a millennial, I'm concerned that gen Z and younger spend too much time gaming in toxic environments... But I hope I am just as wrong as every other generation has been in terms of thinking the younger generation are useless.

Mental illness and suicide stats tend to beg to differ, but as I said, I hope I'm wrong.

As a young person (yes we millennials are still young) I think the older generations are useless. Too much lead poisoning, poor nutrition and drug abuse has stunted their brain development. Plus now their Brains are aging as well.

If you prefer living in a grass hut, then no one is stopping you.

I suspect this is your last post on a computer that old people originally designed for you to use on an internet that they also designed, so it's been nice knowing you, take care, and if you can find an animal & gut it, then its skin should be able to keep you warm at night. Adios. :thumbsu:

I don't understand. Again, haven't youngsters demanded free s**t for thousands of years, and then changed their mind when they grew up and realised that there's no such thing as "free"?

I don't entirely agree, but boomers and Gen X did indeed ruin the economy by buying up real estate that cost as much as 6 McNuggets at the time, locking the rest of us out of the market and ensuring that most families required a dual income to make ends meet.

That’s a very non libertarian view for you to take. Relying on government to deal with our mental health.

WTF are you on about now mate?

Are you doing performance art with other peoples posts again.

Ah I see, we are not aligned with our comments in this thread. All good. Carry on.

yep they did that as soon as they were of an age when they had high incomes and could buy up the housing stock.

They also gave themselves free higher education, ran up the government deficit, and then when they all left uni jacked up the prices Declaring that the deficit had to be paid back. Never offered to pay it back themselves.

You said mental health is a political issue. If it’s a political issue then what does that mean?

No, I have either misconstrued or been misconstrued myself. Carry on.

I was referring to Socrates wisdom and political idiocy.

Anachist? Anti-statism?

He was Pro-Sparta (hence the cosh-carrier comment) which is as statist as you could get in those times.
