Your ultimate composite hawk

Watching CJ on the weekend got me to thinking. "imagine if you could just insert a footy brain into this kid"

Made me think about if you could combine will day's best attributes and Cj's best attributes, you would have the best HBF in the comp for sure.

So my silly thought experiment is... If you could combine two players on the list to create one player.. Who would it be? And why?

The hard bit becomes... Would you take the two players currently on this list that you chose as individuals or take the hybrid if you could only choose one.

Luke hodge and lance franklin would be the ultimate. On our current list it would be hard to go past Cj for athletic traits. Any of chad, Gunston and Breust for the footy smarts.

CJ and Luke Bruest.

Edit: Thought it was current Hawks. (Otherwise its too easy).

Cyril Rioli with Brad Hill's tank.

Peter Hudson's reading of the play with Peter Hudson's goal kicking.

Current list
Tom Mitchell's ball winning with Sicily's Marking and kicking
Gunstons nouse with Jiath's insane take them on at all costs.

It/ they (I'm not going to argue with its/ their preferred pronoun) would no doubt get rubbed out a fair bit but a combination of Dermie and Lethal would be just a ridiculous unmatchuppable(yes it's a word, I just created it) goalkicking, killing machine.

Its/ theirs only problem would be post match whether to ride Ferraris and motorbikes into night clubs waving loaves of bread around to attract blonde glamour girls or be a monosybillic, 100 yard death stare anti social psycopath.

But nobody in the history of this game would go into a contest with it/ they expecting to come out unscathed.

Not even that Franko-Hodgey hybrid created a few posts earlier.

You beat me to it. I'll go further and say Cyril Rioli with:
  • Sam Mitchell's ambdextic kicking / hand balling ability
  • Luke Hodge's leadership / toughness
  • Brad Hill's tank
This hybrid player would be invincible

On the proviso that two negatives make a positive, then Zac Dawson and Luke McCabe

Tom Mitchell level accumulation with Cyril hurt factor and athleticism could go ok

This is where my mind went. A version of Cyril whose body could get to contest after contest and just keep ticking over without the hammies or lungs giving out. 35 Cyril touches per game with Mitchell's clearance nous and relentlessness? With Rioli's tackling, agility and marking? Both have serious footy IQ but in complimentary ways. Unplayable. The other Mitchell is obviously a strong candidate as well to build midfield Rioli.

Throw in the mongrel of Vandenburg and i think you have it

In the spirit of the original challenge to combine two players from the current list, and replace them with a combined player, I'd say TOB (for kicking and tank) and whoever out best just outside best 22 player is at marking. I'm not really up on who that would be, but I'm sure someone more knowledgable than me could offer up a name.

For a pure across the ages approach, but still limited to one player on the current list, I'd be plumping for Darrin Pritchard crossed with CJ. Imagine an 80 me run from half back followed up by a 50m bullet to a leading forward. Ideally playing on Easter Monday against the cats.

Platten for the hair and Dipper for the moustache.

Add to that.

Gibbo's confidence
Poppy's leap
Burgoyne's composure under pressure
Ayres/Dipper hardness
O'Meara's rig
...

Paul Salmon + Ben McEvoy.

Standing 4.06m tall, with strong hands & a great set shot Baul SlacEvoy is the prototype Ruck/Forward for the new era.
