Noticed this weekend a real increase in the number of frees kicks the likes of Cripps, Oliver and co have gotten for being scragged prior to the contest.
After years of frustration watching these great inside players being grabbed and ridden without the ball are the AFL finally going to pay them their due?

Cripps was an example, not the point. The fact that Cripps got a lot of frees does not discount the fact that illegal tactics were used against him on a regular basis (as they are against any clearance beast).

The rules to control that behaviour have always been in the book, it is only implementation that differs.

With the current rule changes reducing congestion and creating more open footy, I wonder has the AFL chosen to crackdown on some of these tactics.

Midfielders don't have a right to run around getting easy touches. It's ******* boring pencilling in 30 disposals to every half decent mid.
It's been amazing watching Oliver, Neale, Mitchell etc mentally implode at having an opponent for the game

I think sometimes inside players miss out of free kicks because it's so congested the ump hasn't always got a clear view.
