Jeff Browne is increasingly being mentioned as our possible next President. He has very strong credentials in business, law, media and the football 'industry'. He's not part of our current board, unlike the two acting President's, Korda and Murphy. Some fresh perspectives and directions would certainly be welcome. More 'scoops' for Tom??

Jeff's brother Murray had a not bad career at Collingwood, 47 games then 6 at Fitzroy. Nice link
Jeff also played U19's for the club, while another brother (Trevor) played U19's and Reserves as well. Fair to say they're a Collingwood family!

Trevor also played a fair bit of VFA footy. I played over 35's with Trev and Muzza was coach, great blokes. Trev was the only player at that age who could turn up with a new woman on his arm every few matches.

Is that Jeffery 'Buckets' Browne?

Do you happen to know whether Trevor and Jeff are twins? Since the two were listed in the Football Record in 1972 (when playing U19 finals) as aged 18 it seems highly likely:

I actually remember Murray Browne playing in the 70s and 80s. I seem to recall that he was a mid-sized player who used to play wing, HFF or HFB. No great shakes as a player, but serviceable usually.

Have to say am not sure, as you say seems likely. Never met Jeff

Yep.
He didn't quite reach the level of his brother, Murray, in playing for Collingwood seniors.
'Buckets' Browne played 22 games for the 'Pies Under 19's in 1972, kicking 7 goals.

When acting as a solicitor for the AFL, he was widely known as “Backsheet Browne” because he passed everything off to counsel.

To think Tom was insufferable getting fed info by Ed I shiver at the thought of what he’ll get access too with his dad in charge. That’s not to suggest Jeffe’s not a strong candidate rather that bringing him in opens us up entirely to something that’s worked in our favour since Ed left, how air tight we’ve been.

Apparently Browne was approached numerous times to be on our Board and was also approached to join the AFL as a Commissioner. Knocked back all offers. Maybe now is his time.
