I recall the Duck missing an absolute soda early in the last quarter when I was over at Football Park for Rd 8, 1993 against the Crows on a Sunday evening.

Would have nearly put the game out of reach as I recall however Crows then proceeded to run all over us and win by 2 points.

I then proceeded to write myself off at the Casino, miss my flight and ended up catching the next flight home with the team.

I thought it was relatively obvious. He was put in a position to kick a fairly regulation goal, and missed. We were all over them in the first half, and with better forward use could have put a gap between us. But because of lax ball use, the same sh*t happened again, and again, the same players. I know we're in transition, but you would expect some things at AFL level to be straight forward.

Centre Bounce Attendances and kick-ins finally released.

Can't help but be a bit frustrated that KT is getting 14 CBA's whilst Powell, Phillips, TT & Hayden are only getting 13 between them.

Seems like a missed opportunity with LDU, Anderson & Dumont out of the side tbh.

There are posters suggesting the cupboard is bare, and that we cannot drop an underperforming kid for an unproven kid, I simply disagree. Firstly Xerri kicked 3 last week, McGuinnes ditto and WWalker kicked the sealer apparently, that to me suggests the cupboard is in fact not bare and there are options that, at least on face value represent better long term potential solves for where we are at, ie: diabolical forward line.

Anyone who watched the game on Sunday could confirm that Will Walker was very ordinary (sealer or not).

He often does.

its usually most obvious on a replay. See someone win a difficult ball in a pack and rewind to see who did it - its often Ats.

Sunday was his best game in a long time. If he plays like that most of the time (he, most likely, won’t), there’s going to be a lot of disappointed people on here, witnessing Atley play 350+ games.

Interesting that Jack didn't feature in the coaches votes.
Champion data consider any kick longer than 40m, that an opposition players doesn't mark as effective.
that includes any play on distance run.
for example.
he plays on from a kick out, runs 20m, kicks it 60m to a contest.
=80m gained.
He can get away with fluffing a few kicks purely on the distance travelled.

I keep getting surprised with how Noble votes vs what he says.

He seems to be a hard marker on our boys in games. Especially this one where I thought we were reasonably competitive. That's probably a good thing.

As you say muttley45 surprised Jack Ziebell didn't get in at all. Ditto Ben McKay.

I would have had BMac in the votes ahead of Jack. Gave Hawkins a real touch up, especially considering the amount of ball that came into the Cats' forward 50.

Ben has me licking my lips.
His performance over the last few weeks taking the best tall forward has me a bit like this.

I just went and had a look.
JZ is ranked the 6th best player in the whole league over the first 5 rounds.
He has been amazing imo.
JZ has one vote from the coaches after 5 rounds.

According to the coaches he is our equal 4th best player after Cunners, Hall and Stevo - JZ and Jy tie for 4th.

However I would also have BMac comfortably in front of JZ - in fact I would have BMac in 2nd place.

Coaches votes not necessarily a great guide for who has been our best as we just aren't getting close enough to feature any more than one or maximum two players.
The Big Footy votes are absolutely the most definitive guide you will find.

Frankly I'm a bit disappointed with the numbers for Phillips and Powell, but especially Philips. Good to see TT and even Kyron at least getting a taste. Really not sure we needed Turner in there that often, Selwood only attended 8 centre bounces.
Bit harsh you two? When was the last time we had ANY first year players suiting up in the centre? And on the flip side re: KT, the coaching staff have found a productive role for a seasoned player that partly covers his limitations in the F50. A win-win imo

Its the best role KT has ever had at the club.
Ive been really impressed since he started tagging.

The cupboard is largely bare.

It's not that you can't drop 1.

It's that you can't drop 7.

And you need to be selective on the ones you do drop and who you bring in.

Spicer has been mentioned a bit. I've seen posts of it doesn't matter his form. Well it does to an extent. I mean we in the cheapseats have no idea at where he's at. How hard he's finding VFL and whether putting him in the AFL side would affect his mindset. So we keep Mahony in. Who people on here call fraudulent, but perhaps he's just better positioned to be able to grind.

That's what this year is going to be. A grind with flashes of what might be.

I think 5 were dropped/managed, 2 injury but I do get your point OF. I was factoring in the 6-day break and long road trip and thought some fresh legs might be in order.

Mahony hasn’t reached that level, his disposal and decision making is very poor this season compared to last. Spicer might be able to get into some space and be hit in the AFL side, on a firm track.

I’m clutching at straws mate haha

I would be throwing the deck chairs around forward of centre to see if we can find a winner or three.

Yeah let's forgive Shaun Atley's years of making game costing stuff ups because Duck missed once.

It was another missed opportunity, but he was good last week.

....and has been in every game

Im not arguing with you, Harry Potter, I cbf’d you know your s**t when it comes to the VFL.

WWalker a late scratching on Vets advice.

We only wasted pick 21 on the kid, he’s upright, I’d be throwing him in and seeing what he can do before he injured himself again personally.
