You don’t think massive companies hoovering up business and dodging tax is what puts more people out of contention in, say, owning a successful business?

Apparent elitists are people like school teachers, scientists, nurses etc. Anyone with an education capable of critical thought.

As the right represents only a very small minority of people, they need to get a large percentage of the population to vote against their own interests by appealing to their fears, their ignorance, their cruelty and inability to empathise. Hence the demonisation of the 'elites', racial minorities, the unemployed etc.
