Recommitted Jack Sinclair [re-signed for 3 more years]

He's an absolute must keep for the Saints. Roberton was on good coin and retired early, plus they can offload blokes like Dunstan and Lonie, replacing them with draftees, to open up more cap space if necessary. Based on tonight's performance, they may even be interested in letting Billings and Ross walk in free agency.

Plenty of options from here, but any choice that doesn't involve retaining Hunter Clark would be the wrong one.

Collingwood would be a good destination for him.
Could work off the back line well with Darcy Moore.

Good ordinary depth player.

Has great vision and disposal but just can’t get his hands on the ball enough.

Thought he was set for a huge season, been decent but still a little disappointing on what i expected. Hopefully we resign him soon. He’s a bit of a funny career to date, has had a couple seasons where he’s made saints fans think he’s a genuine young gun and he’s had seasons where he’s been a bit soft, barely touched the footy all year and turned the ball over when he actually did. Seems a confidence player and I think his form is heavily dependent on how his coach treats him.

Seems crazy that this guy is playing HBF for the saints after trading away Hind for peanuts.
Hmmm I don’t think it’s that crazy... Sinclair’s had an underwhelming season, and Hind has definitely been better so far, but the gap isn’t as big as your making it out to be. I think once we start winning some games (hopefully) we will see Sinclair go past Hind as a back flanker.

I don’t really see the logic in that seeing as Hind is performing in an arguably worse team.

I like Sinclair just not sure his best position is HBF. He’s small, not overly quick and can’t make up for it with kicking penetration.

Sinclair’s small but Hind is a monster? He has more than enough speed for a HBF and his kicking is fine. In fact he has all the tools, especially the the aerobic capacity, but it’s more so between the ears I believe. Hind seems like he’s playing on pure adrenaline right now. Playing out of his skin... is it sustainable? We’ll see.

My point was if you’re not bringing size, run and carry, or long kicking to the half back line then what is Sinclair bringing?

You’re right that Sinclair may grow into the role but atm Hind is better option as an offensive HBF and Sinclair has played better footy up the ground.

Had 28 against the Bulldogs two weeks ago as well.

Has definitely gotten better as the season has gone on and he’s gotten more used to playing down back.

Said recently that it had been a VERY steep learning curve.

Has the type of skills, decision-making and run that we need more of, not less, so I don’t really see any way we let him go.

Especially given the fact he can now play down back, wing, in the guts, high-half-forward, or forward pocket.

POSITIONAL SWITCH TO EARN SAINT NEW DEAL
ST KILDA is closing in on a fresh contract extension with half-back Jack Sinclair after a breakout 2021 campaign.

Negotiations are expected to ramp up over the next fortnight to clinch what is tipped to be a multi-year deal. Now into his seventh season at Moorabbin, Sinclair will be into free agency at the completion of his new contract.

Sinclair, who has 111 games to his name, has never finished in the top 10 of a Saints best and fairest but has been one of the club's most consistent performers this year.

The 26-year-old was overlooked in the first seven rounds of 2020 in Brett Ratten's first year as full-time coach but has played the past 25 games – including all 13 this year – in succession.

Thread was originally about Hunter Clark (who did resign in March) and so was later re-purposed to be about Sinclair.
Sincs has had a great year. Heres hoping they come to terms and he signs on!
