Please remove Hawks from the list. We found one. Pick 50 too.
Kosi was good today, but I'm surprised Lewis has not got a mention in here.

Averaging the same amount of contested marks as McKay, Allen and Naughton, doing much more than Larkey and Georgiades have, and all with one of the worst performing midfield's feeding him.

He's not the best, but he's doing more than ok for a young key forward.

Ben King, Harry McKay and Oscar Allen are the best.

Maybe it's the one year out of the game with a knee but Max King is falling behind Ben, his kicking for goal continues to let him down as well as his almost marks.

Goals per game is missing from your table. Is that an oversight or have you intentionally omitted that statistic as it doesn't fit your narrative ?

I think people get fixated on it, so I removed it to show that there’s not a lot of difference between the actual amount of times the ball is getting into Lewis’s hands, compared to those who have much more hype about them.

For the record, see the table below with thanks to rogiebear93

McKay's performances this year would have him out ahead, but he's a year older than Lewis so we have to give him time. Naughton and McKay clearly kicking more goals in 2021.

All I’m saying is that Lewis is tracking pretty well.

This was a comparison of career best seasons as of 2020, it's an older table but it does show Lewis being comparable at least, especially when you assess it based on the delivery he got.

I'm not too upset about our key forward stocks as M Lewis, Kosi are looking positive despite being 22 and 20 respectively, and Jeka is looking likely given his goal kicking form in the VFL.

👍 All we wanted in 2021 was to see Kosi, Lewis and Jeka take some steps forward, and it’s happening.

People get "fixated" on forwards kicking goals.
Yeah they do, when young key forwards development is about much more than just kicking goals.

I reckon I'll take the guy who's also kicking goals over the guy who isn't.

When Franklin kicked 100+ as a 21-year-old, were you like "nah everyone, it's not about goals"?

I reckon you might have been quite impressed by the goals.

Did anyone say you wouldn’t?

Jeez that's a hell of a strawman though. You know your argument is fragile when you have to use the last bloke to kick 100 goals in order to make a point.

SYL is making a point that though goals are good, it's important to note that a forward might not be converting them but is doing everything else right. If you're doing everything else right, the goals will come eventually - and given Hawthorn's woeful midfield effort this year it's important to note that it might be a difference in supply and not quality between Mitchell Lewis and other forwards.

Your above post makes no point.

More accurately, it's a young forward who kicked a ton of goals and it's a Hawthorn player. I'm sure when Franklin was in full flight as a 21-year-old, Hawthorn supporters weren't indifferent to the fact he was kicking a shitload of goals.

Would Franklin have been equally as impressive had he kicked 30 that year instead of 100+?

No you're right. Let's not get "fixated" on goals. In fact, let's omit them from any comparison entirely. That makes much more sense.

Yet max always gets the reps from media

After max kicked 5 last week the
Commentators couldn’t shut up about how Ben should try and match his brother during the gc game.

Didn’t watch st kilda and port but I’d be very surprised if the same was said in reverse.
