LOL I remember watching the Oscars in the 80s and 90s in the evening after it had already aired in the US. I wouldn't watch TV that day until it came on so as not to have the winners ruined for me.

Used to try and do the same thing when I'd be at work during the day.

Around about the 5/6pm mark i'd just chuck it in and look up the winners.
