Port Adelaide's plan to use jumpers similar to Collingwood

It’s ok...you’re stuck for words because you’re confused.

You’ve been brainwashed by the Port Power media blitz for years about this stupid prison bar jumper crap.

The supporters of the club don't know who or what they are but you do? Okay mate.

Shane Heard wrong.

Again ..just because a bunch of Power supporters sit around toasting marshmallows suddenly decide that you’ll ditch your current jumper design to the SANFL one ..doesn’t make it legitimate.

Wake up to yourself ffs.

Bruh how good is this Essendon clash guernsey? Must be a real collectors item seeing you don’t see many fans wearing it.

I'm getting on a bit now, but if my memory serves me correctly, during the 1996 or 1997 season, Eddie McGuire himself stated on (I think it was) the Footy Show, that if Port Adelaide finished above Collingwood in the first three years of being admitted into the AFL, then Port Adelaide could wear their traditional jumper. He obviously did not consider that was a possibility and i suppose, neither did many other non Port Adelaide people. His statement got a stir from the audience and the panel but then obviously filed away never to referred to again. I remember thinking careful what you wish for Eddie, Port Adelaide love a challenge, and waited patiently three years for Port to prove him wrong. We did, in spades.

Unless I am mistaken, Port Adelaide finished above Collingwood in H&A games for their first year in AFL: 1997 followed by their second year in 1998, their third year in 1999 and again in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005. That's nine consecutive year or Eddies requirement , times by three.

No longer waiting for Eddie to acknowledge his own public statement made when he was both President of the Collingwood Football Club and a high profile media personality on and off his own football show. I am more interested in what the current President of Collingwood Football Club have to say ? And the AFL who are (supposed to be) the governing body ?

Collingwood have more important things to be concerned about this season or any other than what jumper another team is or is not wearing interstate. The AFL should not be disrepecting the traditions of any football club within its governance by not giving proper and timely considerations to important issues of any club or by allowing certain media individual to dictate outcomes to the governing body.

Imagine if Perth Demons Football Club (WAFL) with their red sash on black joined the AFL next year and wanted to wear the same jumper as Essendon on “ special “ occasions and also sell the jumper every week at the ground?

Which is the same thing you deranged Port fans are doing because Koshy and his mates say it’s so.

it’s total ####ing insanity

This folks is what happens when you drink paint.

Who ever said we’re ditching our current design?

ditch it for special occasions and also sell thousands of black and white striped jumpers with port Power on them

it’s a joke and you’re embarrassing yourself as a club to go down this path for the sake of money

Indeed the AFL have the right to say no to the request...Koch you imbecile.

“Quite frankly it is ridiculous that we are still waiting for an answer. We first approached the AFL on this matter two years ago in the lead up to our 150th anniversary season. To think we are 10 days away from the Showdown and still waiting for a response is totally disrespectful to our fans and our club,” Mr Koch said.

“We are requesting to wear this guernsey in Showdowns only, to celebrate the heritage of our Club and our contribution to South Australian football. We aren’t asking to wear it as a regular home or away guernsey or even outside of South Australia. It’s a request for Showdowns only, in Adelaide.

“The AFL own the intellectual property rights to all AFL clubs, and therefore this is a decision the AFL can make independently in representing what is in the best interests of the game and all clubs.”

Mr Koch maintains the club has not seen any agreement, undertaking or commitment that would preclude Port Adelaide from wearing its black-and-white prison bar guernsey as a special purpose guernsey in games of heritage significance.

The fact that you think this is about money goes to show how much knowledge you have on the situation.

At what point do we stop giving into fringe lunatics claiming that Port existed before the 90s? There's being nice, and then there's playing pretend.

The Showdown isn’t even on FTA in Victoria so you nuffies won’t see the Prison Bars unless you actively seek them out. Try to actually think about this beyond the knee jerk of your club/state allegiances and you’ll come to the realisation that it has absolutely no impact on you whatsoever.

Yeah right ...I guarantee all this marketing spin trying to align yourself with the SANFL success wasn’t happening in 1997.
Port Power was a seperate entity sold to Port Magpie fans to jump on board.

Then you went down the tubes after the flag win and supporters walked away.

After a long and relentless campaign to convince those jaded Power and Port Adelaide SANFL fans to return ..now you white wash the whole Power thing and aggressively promote PA Magpie history as one and the same as Power to pretend your some kind of super club.

It’s seriously so pathetic. 1C6EAFA3-5627-4C10-8AF8-2B64FCC3F7DB.png B9CD1B33-19FE-4F4E-A7D0-1BB00BCD7E63.png DF7E20C5-D735-4C8C-BD78-070A55A4D220.png DDC24AEC-6306-4480-B200-D72C860B84A8.png BA1E02C1-77D5-4B5B-983C-989197D6E1E0.png 0A0B524C-F109-447F-85C7-E44CE6779A8C.png

As much as I despise Ed and enjoy watching him blow a gasket...the whole Port Power thing using the SANLF Port Adelaide Magpie jumper is a joke.

They’re two different entities.

Port Power AFL are not Port Adelaide Magpies.

Those prison bar jumpers with Power logo on them are a disgrace and an insult to the Collingwood FC ..who don’t forget are a VFL foundation club for Christ sake.

If I was Collingwood I’d take them to court and sue the absolute arse off them.
Port have a lot more reason to take Collingwood to court after tonight’s statement by Eddie. He openly admitted that he negotiated in Bad Faith and colluded with the AFL so that the agreement to only wear the prison bars in heritage round matches wouldn’t matter since he knew there wouldn’t be heritage games anymore.

That is about as clear cut as you can get for bad faith and a voiding of that agreement/damages to Port.

Any guess as to why those “jaded Power fans” became jaded to begin with?

Any explanation as to why you actually give a shit one way or the other?
