Cumberland had some very good moment's .
His first contest was fantastic for a kid coming off an ACL .
Great leap and mark in the goal square and he's not afraid to back his kicking .
Kids got a bit of spunk .

Loved his work in Sherlock Holmes. Sausages are rubbish tho...

Stack was probably the best thing to come out of the game, you can see him building his fitness with every game. He’s getting to more contests. Wouldn’t rush him back though his lack of preseason would show him up.

Agree with others about Cumberland looks promising, bit of a burst player who just needs km in his legs so he can do what he does well more often.

MRJ is progresssing nicely , getting some midfield time and looking comfortable in that role. Some nice clearances, can win the ball and break away from stoppages.

Ralphsmith is your icing on the cake type, no doubt has the ground/aerial game to be a dangerous medium forward. Showed glimpses today.

Thought Dow looked ok, looks to have lost some condition and copped a few heavy knocks but battled on in the midfield.

CJ very disappointing today. Chol likewise was off with the fairies

Ryan needs more ruck time

Depends how you look at it.
Egg has been good but as we know he's soft at afl level. No future with us.
Stack we know what he brings.Just needs match fitness.
MRJ-Still a cub.No expectations until halfway through the year.
Ralphsmith done a few things but generally hardly sighted.
CCJ hasn't influenced the game at all.
Miller has been disappointing.
Naish's mind is till at the G.

just passing on who played well/ok at VFL...not suggesting they are all ready for selection
...egg for example

stack needs a little more match fitness ( and better teammates around him) and will be ready to go ( in stack out Aarts)

CCJ has patches...no fluke he has been named emergency for 2 weeks running..like many...an ordinary game

MRJ is expected to do everything all the time...still a very young bloke...will get there sooner than later ...lots to get excited about

Dow coming back from appendicitis...will be better for it...good player

Naish can be forgiven...coming off an awesome win at the G and playing the Last 5 ish mins...and the next day play on a cow paddock in shitsville....

not sure what to make of Miller...hoping the theory big players take longer applies to him

SR was injured or suspended? that was his first game back for a couple ...he has time on his side

Martyn shows glimpses...then fades...needs a solid year at VFL

Cumberland is ready to go when 100% fit

Agree.Cumberland despite doing a knee looks the more advanced in his development than any of our kids.

Cow paddock in shitsville?????
Please explain

It would seem that the rumors of our much vaulted depth are greatly exaggerated.
I think it’s more about the rest of the vfl listed players
We pretty much have none of the VFL listed players we had in 2019 and the funding to the program got cut overall

Yep,absolutely no experience in the midfield yesterday.
Martyn a couple of games .
Dow first game and Stacky starting on ball .Steve Morris our only genuine leader .Standalone VFL teams have a big advantage with access to senior players .

Yeah looks like a few of our ex players are doing very well for themselves as well witch isn’t necessarily a bad thing

Bailey Lambert been really good down Frankston and might even get a look in at the mid season draft

Likewise Silvestro at Coburg

Kids against men always struggle. Many VFL footballers are better 'players' than young AFL players, but many are missing attributes that makes them possible AFL players, often it is things like pace and kicking ability. Lambert wasn't drafted because of those attributes but in the end it was Richmond recruiters, because they are the best in the business, that took a gamble, that and a 30+, 4 goal Grand Final game. Bolton as an VFL footballer was flashy but wouldn't win you games. A few years on.... Plus many of our players were coming back from injury.

One thing I did notice was how average we were in the ruck coming up against a big strong Matthew Lobbe, not a good sign for CCJ, who wants to be Nank's replacement. Average height rucks who can't jump can struggle no matter how good a mark you are.

For those of you who are interstate or can't get to Punt Road today, the game is broadcast on 7plus, starting at 2:35.

Looking forward to seeing who stands up in the middle for us today. We should be a lot more competitive with Caddy, Martyn, Stack, Dow, MJ and Ross all rotating through there. We need someone to put their hand up to help out our senior midfield.
