Ever done a high string ? You can walk around with it. The fact they did not ice it straight away speaks volumes of the worry as not much you can do till scans. Obviously without scans its all an estimate but the feeling is that it isnt good. lets hope we get lucky and its a slight twinge.

My main concern if its a big string, with his history, will he want to go again next year ?

Cheers, Tigs. Would never doubt you, just wasn’t sure how that works. Let’s hope the skipper’s okay. If not, Jack does an alright job as captain!

AS good as the second half against the Doggies was, it is really just foreplay to Friday's game. A chance to lick the ??????....... whatever they're called.
A chance to put them to bed. Make them our bunnies.

Out: Cotchin, Aarts
In: Martin Vlaustin (if fit) or Naish

8 weeks for a hamstring strain that he didn’t need to ice and was walking around on? How?
Ice is becoming a hot topic in rehab. There's a view, one that's even shared by the original inventor of the R.I.C.E. protocol, that it actually inhibits healing.
So I'd take nothing out of the fact Cotch wasn't iced up.

Pretty sure they haven’t iced Cotch’s hammy the last few times he’s done it anyway.

Being at the game, at no point did I think we were going to lose. We sat in the same area as the Geelong Prelim, with the half time deficit similar, their superstar milking a staging free at half time and the game finishing with a similar margin. Thankfully, Bont shanked his kick, because if he did kick it, there would have been real issues for the umpires, who basically cheated for the dogs for the entire first half. I dunno what it would have sounded like on TV, but we let them know. They were atrocious. Thankfully, someone must have "spoken" to them at the break, because the game got very weird for us as we are not used to some of the 50/50s going our way. Regarding the Dogs - Who have they beaten ? Apart from the first quarter, where they ran us ragged, they have short people in their backline, competing forwards for every inside 50, and they throw the ball around. Lynch kicks straight in the first half and we would gone on to win by 6-8 goals.

How satisfying is it to have your best three mids out, and you smash the midfield that is considered "the best" (or one of) ? Bolton is simply a shorter version of Dusty that can take screamers. Mansell stays in the side as does RCD. Baker permanent forward, he is brilliant and can replace Aarts, Rioli or Castagna - all three were non existent as per the standards of the premiership years. Rioli did do a lot behind the play, so he should stay.

Houli, Nank and Broad were really solid. Lynch is threatening to kick a bag soon. He marked everything.

Get stuffed anyone that was writing us off.

In - Dusty, Vlastuin
Out - Ross, Aarts

Yep, there's been a school of thought for a long time that moving the affected area (within reason of course) and getting the most blood flow possible through the injury (essentially using the body's own natural healing methods) leads to a much faster recovery than the RICE protocol, good to see it's gradually starting to be employed at a professional level.

The results speak for themselves and are the primary reason the old way of thinking is going out of favour - a lot of physio's were very attached to RICE (nobody wants to know that everything they studied is BS) and very resistant to change, which is why it's hung around so long.

Much like ridiculous levels of carb loading, common sense is beginning to win out, but it's taken far too long, IMO.

Was aarts directly opposed to Daniel?

yeah Mark Lee was a dominating force of nature @ 21 & a premiership medal dangling round his neck with close to BOG honors
in that '80 flag, got taken out of the game by an inferior talent in WoW Jones in the '82 GF when we were red hot faves
and it affected his game for a few years after that,he came good again and was a fantastic warrior for the club thats for sure
Lee was always an automatic selection for Victoria in those days in an era of many great rucks.

I'm gonna assume you intended to quote tigs2010? ;)

This bloke needs to be playing KPD. Their tall defenders are pretty crap and this kid can obviously play the game, has nice skills...he just needs to move into defence. The answer to one of their big problems is right under their nose. Also means JUH can move in and displace that spud Bruce.

Spot on, needs to learn intensity (defence teaches you that or you are done!)

Yeah even at local level we have moved away from ice for soft tissue injury

Watching the replay. How ******* good is that noise in the 3rd qtr. Wowee missed that

Was amazing at the ground. In about m13. Felt the concrete move. Best h/a crowd in a fair while, even with COVID.
