Lucky to just get a careless grading tbh. If I remember correctly there's a bit of a blurring of the lines because he had the ball, but I think they typically grade elbows as intentional.

That said, 1 week is fair enough assuming there's no long lasting effects.

Sounds fair. Seeing that cunners basically stopped and Laird ran into him. The Melbourne #31 cocked his elbow and was the instigator of the contact. I can see how the MRO judged these to be equal.

I’m comfortable it being a week, you can’t raise an elbow to protect yourself in that situation.

They'll be either looking to downgrade it to accidental or to low impact.

I think they probably stand more chance on teh low impact given he played out the game.

He wanted to fend off so chose to do the action so I can't see how they could get to accidental.
