If we picked either of them it would be as a long term development player. They wouldn't be playing this year so just leave them in victoria for the rest of the year and bring them across once schooling is finished.

Don’t this harm the purpose of a mid-season draft somehow? Why would we miss the time to have a close look at them?
 
Can we select a random Vic kid in the draft but still allow them to remain in Vic with their club until the end of the season so as to avoid having to try to take him in the nation draft?

We can, but most of the vic kids we can draft would have finished school and would be likely to come across. We are likely to get a vic kid who couldn't play last year and has now shown enough to be very draftable at the end of the year.

ST KILDA and Gold Coast will be able to utilise up to four selections for the NAB AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft, headlining a host of clubs with multiple picks.

The Saints passed on three picks in last year's NAB AFL Rookie Draft, two of which were used for Mason Wood and Paul Hunter in pre-season, before the retirement of Dylan Roberton and season-ending injuries for Jade Gresham and Ben Paton.

They're are not expected to use all four selections, instead planning to enter with a handful of targets that they hope fall to their picks.
The Suns will be able to take four players by moving Connor Budarick, Matt Conroy, Rory Thompson and Jarrod Witts – who will all miss the season with knee injuries – to the inactive list.

Adelaide will be open to three after Tyson Stengle's departure, Wayne Milera's season-ending knee injury and by moving Bryce Gibbs to the inactive list after they were forced to re-rookie him last year for payout purposes

Collingwood, Essendon, Melbourne and North Melbourne will all be able to use two each.

I can’t believe this is only a month away. Looking like most clubs will have a pick before us. What do we think the club is likely to do? Pass, pick a 19yr old, pick an experienced state league option, pick a Magpies player?

Might have 2 picks unfortunately 1 of each for me 1 19yr old best available in any position and then possibly a mature mid .
 
I think we would pass but I hope we don’t.

Would like us to take a punt on a young player who might develop but also with our injuries stacking up the magpies will really struggle. While the AFL side is my priority I think it’s important for young players development to play in a structured cohesive side and if that means picking up players purely to fulfil that purpose in the magpies I’m all for it.

with Rocky and mead out we desperately lack centre square clearance mids, we’re already lacking kfs and key defenders too. A player who could swap ends like karl finlay would be very handy.
 
My uninformed pick is Callum Park from Glenelg. Sub 3 second sprint, 190cm skinny wing with a good kick. Just needs to eat more which he should be able to do in an afl environment! Seems to be getting good numbers playing league this year.

With Amon, Bonner, Bergman, Motlop, Farrell already in the side and Burgoyne coming it doesn't sound like what we need even if Duursma heads into the middle.

what we do in the mid season draft could give an indication on what we will do at the end of the year

- If we draft a ruckman it could indicate we will trade a ruckman to get a 1st round pick having 2 picks in the first round (or 1 very high pick in the first round)… having Jace Burgoyne + another talented South Australian player (Midfielders Horne, Draper, Roberts, Forward - Ferres or Defender - Rayon) might be worth seriously looking at..
- Also getting another ruck could give us currency by trading one to help us in the end get Merrett from Essendon....or
- it could help us in the long run with the our father son picks

- this pick could help Port Magpies - what do they need another KPF or another KPD .. maybe a midfield
- maybe this pick could help derail another SANFL team (any stand out SANFL players from WWT, Glenelg, Sturt, North, South or Norwood that we could want)
