I think he should do a plumber’s apprenticeship. That will make him a better forward. Guaranteed.

You really have to learn how to unblock drains before you can kick goals. Everybody knows that.
If he doesn't start to show other AFL traits other than his elite goal kicking when someone delivers the ball to him he might find himself back in Lucindale on the tractor or in the shearing shed. He is in control of his own football destiny and the club have certainly tried more than one avenue re position to get him competitive.

He doesn't get near it when he plays in the forward line, as exemplified by his efforts last night when he went forward. This is about teaching him to get involved, which he can then translate to actually getting his hands on the pill in the forward line.

Even Roo admitted during last night's game that he just doesn't get enough of the pill. This is about teaching him how.

Name me one, just one great forward in the game’s history who became great by serving a midfield apprenticeship?

I don’t mind playing him in there as a specific strategy, if we think he has the attributes to help us in that position, but if the reason we’re doing it is to improve him as a forward, we are barking up the wrong tree.

1) Its not that simple, you are comparing our forward in a outnumbered situation versus their defender in an extra number situation.
2) Yes, Berg made mistakes, but so did Aliir.
3) Berg was so close a lot of the time, extremely unlucky not to clunk a few of those marks.
With respect,
1) The situation I described was that simple. Berg was close to Aliir, but moved forward and added to the heavy congestion in the L pocket (ball-chasing). Aliir could have gone with him, but held back which enabled him to take the chest mark seconds later. Berg was not making a lead, but just added to the pack.
2) yes, all players made mistakes, but it was an example of EH adding to an all-ready-crowded area. It was dumb footy. EH is not a ball-getting inside mid, or small forward.
3) That is the problem, right there. He is "so close a lot of the time" without being effective. Close, but no mark, or no possession, no defensive effort in the F50 and misses very gettable shots for goal. Not clunking a few of those marks happens every game; it's not a one-off. It's a trend, not an aberration.

EH is the Crows nearly-KPF and that is one KPF too many.

I don’t disagree with that, I’m not just convinced he’s got the people in his corner who are helping him realize his potential.

I don't think he did, now I think he does.

Every club does. It’s a footy culture issue, not an Adelaide culture issue.
We just saw Port beat us with Travis Boak winning the medal having been managed the week before. I'm not sure we would have done the same, in fact I'm certain we wouldn't have

They are fixing everything other than Roo, Reid and Ogilvie. Its equivalent to a grand prix team replacing the tyres when the engine is f’ed. It doesn't matter how good our coaching and fitness staff are if we can't get talent in the door.
Murray spot on here as we have failed miserably in recruiting with a huge amount of high draft picks with many from exit of those players let go ,Lever ,McGovern, Cameron , B Crouch and even Keath and Greenwood along with our low finishes since 2017.
Just made so many poor selection and with all these many high picks we look to have only one possible star in Thillthorpe with rest looking like good down to average and even delist type in all those under 30 picks.
We just have to finish the clean out and find a better person to be our head recruiter etc as our future should be looking a lot brighter if we had selected better.

Berry needs to be in the team but not as a forward because he is not a threat and whoever plays on him will run off the be third man up.
We need Talia back desperately, Butts looked off today and not himself. Maybe scared of Dixon or unwell but wasn’t playing his natural game.
we are in need of midfielders HF and HB players and we won’t be getting better this year. At least the Board, coach and recruiting know that, there is no hiding the facts.
Tex is now turning into a liability because he almost always gives a free away trying to wrestle, if this continues then we won’t win another game. He is a momentum killer

He has that build that would really show off that plumbers crack! I think you are onto something here!

Talia has been managed before. I’m sure there are others.

Not that being managed has much relationship to being able to play under duress.

Lynch is fine... but not when he's carrying an injury, as he was for most (if not all) of this season.

Mackay should be a "break glass in emergency" player. I didn't mind him playing when Kelly & Brown were MIA against Sydney, or when Brown & Hamill were MIA vs GWS. He shouldn't have played against Port, and he shouldn't be playing next week.
Lynch is not fine, his form has been patchy at best since the 2017 GF

Saying Lynch is fine represents the problem that is AFC

Yep... they rested him against a top-4 side, a game they subsequently lost, to ensure they beat a bottom 4 side. I'm not sure that's really something you should be taking away from the game.

Congratulations. Not one word you have written is true. His form in 2018-2020 was just as good as 2017. His 2021 has been poor, due to injury.

I’m definitely no expert, but wouldn’t actually putting him in our forward line also make him a better forward?
His forward craft is pretty good.

But right now he is looking like a guy who will average 1.5 gpg and sub 10 disposals. Offer nothing other than kick goals. Meaning we will be a player down across the ground.

He is going to be Tex 2.0 Tex is best when he is contributing up the ground. Not just kicking goals. Last two games we have seen Tex incapable of pushing up the ground. And his forward craft has suffered.

Tex went through this process. Fog is now.

I realise this is an unpopular opinion here, but it is modern Footy. Goal kicking specialists are dinosaurs.

Fog isn't Tex 2.0, he's Tex 0.3.

I finally got to watch the full game
Possibly repeating what has already been posted

Absolute Ugly was McPherson
Last year I though he was coming along nicely very calm under pressure
He is just a slow mess now

No 14 Should not be out there reasonable last week just shocking this week ( surprise ) adds nothing & a liability in the last Quarter

ROB Seriously something is wrong with him

Tex : Time for a complete rest for a week he has to be managed

I haven’t watch this weekends SANFL
So do not know who to suggest to come in but we need to replace Knarlin Ned and Murphy obviously
Someone to replace McPherson
Forward line needs a complete restructure

We did the opposite with Talia

He played out last season's dead rubbers while injured as we searched for wins. It delayed his surgery and impacted his preseason.

I can only remember us resting Talia and others very sparingly when we've had home finals already stitched up

I think that the club thinks the fans want to see us gunning for wins, wins, wins.
