Maybe we need to target a ruck in the MSD. I feel ROB, like sauce before him, is the old school ruckman. He lacks speed and agility, but if he can’t consistently grab marks he’s a liability when he’s not tapping. But I’m not sure we have any real options!!

I disagree. If he needs a game off, Gawn is really the right player to give it against.

Nic Nat can make anyone look bad at a centre bounce, he is ridiculous as a centre tap ruck. What I can't accept is the skill errors that ****ed our momentum, that missed handpass to Jones that resulted in a goal when we had got it back to 18 points was worse than poor, it was 5 metres behind and 2 metres too high to who he was trying to get the ball too. Hartigan would have made that handpass.

When Rob is good, he is marking the ball consistently, providing a roadblock, he is another mid when the ball hits the ground, he is neither of those at the moment and he looks a long way off

Seems stupid we have kept Stachen on the list for as long as we have if we don't think he can play the odd ggame. If we are not prepared to play him with O'Brien as tired as he is then I don't get it.

The reason he’s picked is because he has a monster tank. Nothing else. Ruck craft eludes his astrophysicist intelligence. We are going with a guy that can get to every stopage. Not a guy who has craft in ruck. And nobody else on our list can match the output.
You make more money doing footballs than a Dr Brian Cox like brainiac. He gonna do that.

But game time is now 20% longer.
I reckon he is playing like 2020, but only has 60% the energy. Therefore not strong in the aerial contest, no second effort. All energy spent getting to the next ball up.

In a way I kind of agree as I swear he's always awful when games start but once the other ruckman wears down he really gets himself into it. Maybe the man not moving on the mark has hurt him more than we thought as well as it means quicker/more direct kicking which hurts him from being able to fill the hole down back which was a huge asset for him last season.

Right now though, carrying a ruckman who isn't a great tap ruckman, avoids kicking it/doing anything offensive and isn't getting those big grabs in the air, you really have to question what he's bringing to the side right now. There's a solid player in there, we all saw it last year but he's just out of form now and I'd love to see us try someone else. Think we really missed an opportunity to throw Frampton in the ruck and stick O'Brien in the backline this game. He'll get smashed by a quick forward on the lead but outside of that I think he'd actually be an alright defender with his ability to back himself into taking the mark and getting in the right position to do so. I also stand by Frampton having some really nice taps when in the centre bounce when he was last in the side.
