How lucky was I? Lucky to be offered the job at North, then be embraced by the wonderful North people and then luckiest move of all - having Heath come on board as our Media man. JB had mentioned that Heath (who was at Channel 9) might be interested in joining the club. The cards fell our way and he started in late 2008. I had never met him before going for a coffee and he had me at hello! Employed him on the spot. I don't think many clubs had been employing actual journos back then but we definitely started a trend. He is by far the best in the AFL. He is an innovator and built the North media team into one of the best in sport. More importantly, he was there to guide and support me when things were extremely tough in the trenches at North. Along with John Murphy, Adam Aiello, Cam Vale and Dino Imbriano we were almost invincible. He has become one of my best mates and whilst I am sad to see him leave the Roos, he has built a legacy that will last for decades. Best wishes buddy.
Euge made it happen!

Not only that he did it with politeness and manners. Responded to supporters emails and gave you genuine feedback. Did it all. Textbook management of a supporterbase - and with one as feral as ours no mean feat... Thanks again Euge.

lol there was someone on here who gave Euge a hard time for god knows what reason, the way he handled it was superb. It is a shame Heath bailed on BF, I understand why he did but I think a formal presence can calm that feral nature that can manifest from anonymity on a public forum.

Yep, sorta. The junior pathways (late teens) are not working, teams go bust every year or two - constant set backs. Couldn't even get a FTA TV deal and Foxtel only bought some games. Game is struggling. Ironically in schools the game is very strong. They just don't have a good way of leveraging that once the kids move out of the school environs.
Yes, 25 years ago it was going to be the next big thing

One of the unexpected joys of my time on here was having No Bull drop in here at the end of 2016. He was around for 2-3 pages and those few of us were able to ask whatever we wanted and he answered. It’s on here somewhere. Good times.
Good luck, no bull!

Haha, I asked him how's it hanging.

Its always great when you pop in Eugene. Universally loved by the masses.

All the best Heath, you're a superstar.

This is an uneducated opinion about a league and sport you do not understand.

Know a bit. Work with people involved at multi levels and talk about the game often. Certainly not an expert but my opinion is based on friends strong working knowledge of the game in Australia. You disagree? Fair enough.

That thread where Heath flipped out (and ultimately stopped posting) is still so fresh and funny in my mind.

Poor bloke haha. We were really spoiled by him, the quality and quantity of the media that the club was pushing out when he came on board was amazing. Brought the club into a new era of fan engagement.

Really sad to see him go, Heath took us to a whole new level and his replacement will have some mighty high standards to achieve. He seemed to work 24/7 all year round apart from a break over Christmas so i guess that will stand him in good stead for the new role! Not sure if it's been mentioned but i understand he B4NAAK which would have been a real buzz for him so it's a pity we couldn't reward him with a flag.

As for Euge, I was fortunate to meet him at Arden Street one day, he's an absolute gentleman and had so much passion for our club. I miss his presence in the media and his grass roots support when he would go out to the markets to promote the club and sell memberships.

Both Heath and Euge were pivotal to our growth as we emerged from Dallas Brooks Hall back in 2007.
