Not AFL but biggest football crowd of any code:

104,098

2000 Olympics Gold Medal match, Spain v Cameroon.

About 100,000 of us going nuts for the Indomitable Lions that day, everyone loves an underdog. Cameroon 0-2 down at half time, equalised late in the second half, had two seemingly perfect ‘golden goals’ disallowed in extra time, then won in the shoot out. Amazing game, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The actual attendance for the 1970 Grand Final was technically 121,697, as The Devil Himself was also present at the MCG that day (according to Pie fans). However, metaphysical beings who don't need to pay for admission are not counted for the purposes of the 'official' attendance.*
(*This has been standard practice for ground managers since 1897.)

Therefore, applying this same methodology, the biggest AFL crowd that I have been a part of was the 2008 GF, where the actual attendance was 100,013 (fittingly, the devil's number).

As a lad I was at the 1971 Grand Final, decked out in the Saints jumper, scarf and duffle coat. Attendance was 118,192.

I still remember it. Electrifying atmosphere and we lead by 28 points going into time-on in the 3Q when Stuart Trott ran into an open goal and hit the post. Saints crowd were going berserk.

Hawks moved Bob Keddie to Full Forward and Peter Hudson to CHF at 3QT. The rest is history. I cried all the way home.

We’ll never see a crowd that big again. I think it was the third biggest ever crowd, behind the 1970 and 1969 Grand Finals. The era when grounds had standing room and were not fully seated.

But it was amazing to be there. The greatest game I have ever been to. We were a huge club back then coached by the legendary Allan Jeans.

I was at the 89 State of Origin which would have to be up there was over 90k I think. Largest partisan crowd easily, I reckon there were about 200 SA supporters amongst the 90k+

Also went to the 94, 95 and 2000 GF's

I was at the Rich/Carl EF in 2013 would have to be up there and the Rich/Ess 95 SF which I'm sure was a big crowd.

Other finals games I've been to that would've been over 80k nudging 90k would be 88 SF Melb/Coll and the 2x 2018 finals Melbourne played at the G

The real crowd in 1970 is not known as thousands of fans got into the Members for free after breaking down the fence around the tennis courts at the back of the Members stand! Some estimates put the crowd at at least 130,000.

My dad was at
MCG record 1970 GF Pies V Blues 122k
Waverley record 1991 Hawks v Pies 93k
SCG record 1965 GF St George v Souths 78k
Fair effort.
I was at the first two matches, but not the third.

Was at Marvel Stadium for the record AFL crowd though - worked there at the 2009 St.Kilda v Geelong match (so technically not one of the 54,444 spectators).

Can only remember there being cricket nets there, not tennis courts.

Mine's 113, 461 in 1980. Had never considered this before today.
