Had to shake my head at State Opposition Leader Michael O'Brien saying he fears the Government might be losing the trust of Victorians after some positive Covid cases were proved to be false positives. I bet if they were just ignored because they didn't think they were strong positives and the virus ran amok like it did this time last year, he'd be saying they should've done more sooner.

I'd rather they announce something as being a positive case only to be proven wrong than the other way around.

Vic state government is just making shit up now to justify their pathetic lock down.

If it was so extra contagious why are there so few cases? It’s not like there was much of a lockdown. The roads were as busy as they always were. People just largely ignored it.

Less f**kwits around too wanting to be Corona vigilantes.
With no Dan Andrews around to spread fear and hysteria every morning everyone's way more chilled.

The difference between the early lockdowns and this one is staggering. I’d drive to work and there was hardly any cars on the road. This week there were cars everywhere. Traffic was as bad as it usually is. There was zero difference. I couldn’t believe it. I was expecting the roads to be quiet. No one cares now. Everyone’s past the point of being scared by it, and just do what they usually do.

With the government crying wolf is it any surprise? All they do is peddle fear, that death is imminent, trying to justify their ridiculous lockdowns. Locking down the entire state was just massive over kill and totally unwarranted.

Yet if they did nothing and the number of cases sky-rocketed like they did this time last year, people would be demanding to know why nothing was done.

Seems like they're damned if they do, and damned if they don't.

Every other state gets outbreaks under control quickly. Lock down individual suburbs etc. Vic’s only response is lock everything down and fk anyone who’s business goes under, or loses their job. Who gives a shit if you live in a town hundreds of k’s away from melbourne and have never had a covid case. Don’t give a shit about you, we are putting you all under our draconian rules. Got to love having the strictest rules, the harshest and longest lockdowns, yet the most cases, most deaths, most outbreaks. How are these clowns not being held accountable for their continual fk ups?

If the state opposition was any more than a flaming bag of dog poo, they would be getting smashed in the polls, and be out on their arse at the next election.

Instead of worrying about being damned or not and their own political standing it might be a good idea just to make the best decisions and most proportionate responses.

I only work nights but I've found the traffic a fair bit less. Most people can't go more than 5ks.
And there's cops everywhere!
I work on the rail network and twice they've found us working behind substations
And I have no idea how lol.
But overall I'm finding the whole experience more chilled this time around.
Way less crazies around my area compared to last time. None actually.

No, I think you'll find you're mistaken. There's wall to wall traffic everywhere. No one adheres to lockdown restrictions and the outside world is a veritable mosh pit of anti-lockdown freedom fighters all expressing their shared indifference to the supposed "threat" of this glorified flu.

Pretty sure that's what they're doing.

Saw a conversation on social media earlier in the week, where they were saying there are 3 major differences between Melbourne and Sydney:

1. Climate (it's generally a lot colder in Melbourne than Sydney, and the virus circulates more in colder weather)
2. Melbourne is more densely populated than Sydney.
3. Melbourne's transport system is a lot better.

The lockdowns are all designed to limit the movement of potential spreaders, and it's a lot easier to limit everyone at once then just trust a few people who have already tested positive to isolate when there could be a lot more people who are positive but never got tested.

I can understand why regional areas are also locked down too, at least initially. You have Southern Cross Station, where you have regional and metropolitan passengers all in the same vicinity at the same time. Would only take a few people who are infected by Covid to sneeze or cough in public, regional folks catch it, then travel to Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo or wherever and infect other folks on the train and people they live with, and then voila - you suddenly potentially have dozens of cases all over the state.

Of course, if the Federal Government got off their butts 12 months ago and properly organised purpose built quarantine facilities and organised and rolled out a decent vaccination program, we most likely wouldn't be in this situation in the first place.

You’d expect that working nights. Nothing would be open. During the day the roads are still chokers. Especially trucks.
