Opinion Sack Hinkley 3 - 2021 is worse than 2020 already

What I absolutely hate is that most teams become good/great and stay that way for 5-10 years giving themselves a decent chance of success. We become great(2014,2020) fall just short and then become a not quite good enough team for a few years again.

That starts at the head coach accepting footy is hard and someone has to come 3rd mentality, like a Glenelg.

OK so in the scenario of Hinkley getting sacked....

who is our new coach ?

Voss as caretaker, probably.

Then you’d hope we cast the net far and wide, for both applicants and the interview panel charged with making their recommendation to the Board, and pick the most outstanding candidate.

Hey Hinkley supporting lurkers.

If you were told going into the 2013 season that the next coach you appoint would be fourth on the all time games coaching record without making a GF, would you appoint them?

For bonus points, if this unlikely scenario came to pass explain why persisting with them isn’t a textbook example of sunk cost fallacy.

There's too many people who are just happy enough with not being 2012 Port Adelaide, and that includes Rucci.

This.

Try even suggesting that Hinkley is the crux of the problem, let alone that he’s run his race and should be moved on, in any number of the unofficial supporter Facebook pages and groups.

Boomers and casuals descend in number to tear you limb from limb, using all manner of questionable logic from “I guess you forget when he arrived”, to “he saved the club”, to “go and support the Tingles”, to “you’d want any coach sacked after one loss”, to “you weren’t complaining last year”, to justify his ongoing and unending tenure.

That 30-month nadir at Footy Park, which every club goes through at some stage — even moneybags West Coast has a wooden spoon — blew a few-thousand fuses in people. Rucci, Koch and Kane Cornes included.

For some reason they’ve convinced themselves that Hinkley is the chosen one protecting us from another era of windswept and sparsely-populated West Lakes terraces, or worse. Rucci in particular managed to gin himself up to such a degree that he genuinely thought liquidation/relocation was on the cards, and that a follicly-challenged chap from Camperdown deserves a job for life for his part in staving it off.

It’s a form of mental illness at this point.

Rucci has been out of touch for years, if he ever were. Chief football writer was relevant up to 20 years ago, once everyone can see every game for themselves they became pointless, like most football writers doing writeups. The club listening to him let alone employing him whilst he still works in the media is classic Adelaide.

Don't you remember the Senate inquiry into our relocation to Tasmania? People like yourself forget too quickly.

Someone who isn't' Hinkley.

We won't know who will throw their hat into the ring until we sack Hinkley.

How could I forget?

Graham Cornes whining about ‘the media making things up to attack the Crows’ circa the infamous camp, ignoring that he gleefully ran with the story that Port are being relocated to the Derwent 🤪
