No it’s not against do no harm; when there is circulating covid then the risk of doing nothing also can be harmful. You are right in your last sentence- be informed of risks and make a choice

The AMA is saying GPs shouldn't be administering the AZ to under 60's and they should wait for Pfizer. This isn't Anti-Vaxx stuff. It's pro-Vax, just the appropriate Vaccine.

Though the AMA is now having mixed messages to an extent....

A lockdown in Perth now.

Thanks Scomo.

This whole thing is hilarious (sort of).

Morrison spent the whole of last week taking credit for the work of the states on CoVid. Less than a handful of days later the entire country is in lockdown - except Victoria.

The Morrison government are reactionary dickheads. And Brendan Murphy is a yes man stooge.

Their story changes with the wind. Useless idiots.

and the thing that has changed is the risk of acquiring COVID has increased compared to when atagi made their statement on over 60s only for AZ. This changes the risk balance. Whether it changes it enough to overturn atagi i don't claim to know; but I am not opposed to the idea of increased vaccination (including the risk of complications) while covid risk is increased; atagi may eventually come to a decision but don't hold your breath.

Hardly. Are there like 2 people in hospital from the virus, even during these outbreaks which will soon be under control?

Even if there's a 2020 Melbourne type outbreak, the real risk is still to over 60's who are yet to be vaccinated.

as a fully vaccinated HCW i'm probably not the fairest person to ask, i see the potential downsides of rampant virus much easier than the risks of vaccination; and would also give a future reason to avoid more forking lockdowns

They also need to consider, if the lockdown works, that advice would need to change again in 2 weeks.

It's rare that I agree with Peta Credlin but surely we cannot be waiting until we get 70% of people vaccinated in order to allow those who are complete freedom of movement.

The best incentive for vaccination, in my opinion would be to reward those who do with the right to come and go as they please, both domestically and internationally. I think this should apply sooner rather than later. Locking down fully vaccinated people kind of defeats the purpose of vaccination.

A fully vaccinated person in Germany, for example is no longer burdened by masks, shutdowns or mandatory testing. Life is back to normal for those people. Meanwhile, my fully vaccinated wife and I missed her grandmother's interstate funeral yesterday due to the threat of lockdown (Port Macquarie, still an orange zone). We didn't want to take the risk of travelling interstate and a potential 14 day isolation period upon our return.

What is the issue? Are we criticising him our vaccination numbers and criticising him for trying to improve them?

Do you want them to stay low because it fits the narrative?

What I want is for the PM to have spent the last 12 months making sure both quarantine and the vaccination rollout were both organised competently so we wouldn't be in the position we are now. Apparently that was too much to ask for.

The fact his latest vaccination announcement was made with no input from anyone else, contradicts other announcements and is against all medical advice is par for the course from this incompetent buffoon though.

They'll be a crumbling wreck by the time the election comes around.

If the ALP can't pick over that carcass then heaven help us all.
Nothing will surprise me if the ALP can't get this in a romp - its dueling incompetence and its clear the losers are the electorate in either scenario (much like the catch line for the movie, Aliens v Predators, whoever wins, we lose).

Well we all know what happens next
