I don't think there is any doubt that this is one of the biggest stuff ups by a government, but my question is what exactly will a RC accomplish. I mean, they will deserve to be rolled at the upcoming election and any RC called by the new government will just be pure political gain and not in the public interest.
Final nail in the coffin for Sqomo and the Rorters.

We do not need another RC.

We need a proper federal ICAC.

And it needs to be allowed to look back

So a costly pile-on with limited upside other than satisfaction?
You don't think knocking off some of the most wasteful, thieving pollies we've ever seen is a worthwhile goal?

$20mil for a few prison sentences would be about right.

If you believe it results in jail time or punishment, then its worth it. If it's a political exercise, then its not worth a cent.

scum news - Yep it's all the HA's and the premiers fault.

fu**en call in the drone strike on these TRAITOROUS dogs already !!!!!!!!

And if we're able to topple these serially incompetent windbags and the ALP gets in, a Murdoch Royal Commission absolutely must be called. In fact, it probably wouldn't hurt Albanese's chances that much if he campaigned on it. Murdoch is still going to try destroy him anyway. The hypocrisy and blame-shifting of the Murdoch media is undoubtedly one of the main reasons so many Australians are scared, misinformed, directing their ire for the entire COVID response shambles to people in other states or individuals.

The Federal government of course wants to champion its response to COVID citing the comparatively low death/case rate. To take the credit for work done by the state government in spite of the Federal government and its;
- Refusal to provide Federal quarantine facilities
- Failed attempt to devise a national contact tracing system (COVIDSafe)
- Complete neglect of aged care facilities, in which over 2/3 of deaths due to COVID have occurred
- Murdoch media protection racket which throughout the pandemic has undermined almost all public health advice (lockdowns, masks) and Morrison/Frydenberg et al during the 2020 Melbourne lockdown slamming the VIC state government, demanding they open up, risk lives etc.

It can't be overstated how the above has irreparably made Australia worse off, has made the idea of Australia almost completely redundant - as when there is an abdication of leadership, people will naturally coalese into tribes (Vic against NSW, NSW against Qld, WA against every state, etc).

Of course this doesn't even touch on the thousands of Australians still stranded overseas, now 16 months into the pandemic.

Australia is unfortunately a cold, scared, insecure and selfish country and this is thanks largely to Murdoch media indoctrination - a lot of which is shared widely on facebook, social media etc and seems to dominate corporate media frameworks/narratives.

I disagree, because there is a very high likelihood that Australia and the world will have to contend with and respond to another pandemic again at some point in the future. Given a long enough timeline, its an almost certainty.

I don't think anyone can doubt that the pandemic is one of the biggest challenges that each sovereign country has had to face. Almost everyone wanted the government to succeed given whats been at stake. They clearly have not succeeded and its important, very much in the public interest, to understand why.

Deleted tweets from newcorpse usually tell the backstory. This lasted less than 5mins, I wonder who called them?

You spooked me there - im flying out on friday. this is just to balst state governments and QLD in particular

Im really getting that vibe. Add that theres a fake veneer of inclusiveness, caring, concern etc arranged over the top of the coldest hardest bits. Its likewe do it for brownie points but its a furphy

This is what happens when you tell a whole population for 20 years that they need to be scared of everything. Scared of people overboard, scared of boat people, scared of refugees, scared of muslims, scared of terrorism, scared of weapons of mass destruction, scared of Japan, then scared of Somalia, then scared of China, scared of electric vehicles, scared of climate action, scared of unions, scared of everything.

If you frame everything as fear then it is pretty inevitable that you end up cold, scared, insecure and selfish.

Why would we subsidise foreign car companies?
Agreed. Screw subsidies, Gillard should have simply nationalised the entire Australian car industry. Then they could have been put to work developing electric cars.

Yeh. A bit like the 4 enquiries the Coalition pulled after 4 guys broke work safe rules died putting up roofing insulation after the GFC.

The Coalition kept playing that one even though it was poor workplace behaviour.

So I agree. Its just a Pity the RWNJ like to play the man when its Laybah!!!!

How's the gall of the Home Affairs Minister putting sh!t on the Qld Government for failures of Quarantine. Somebody needs to send a copy of the constitution to Ms Andrews to remind her who is responsible for Quarantine in this country.

This is absurd beyond belief. And here's NewsCorp uncritically re-printing the garbage. They're a protection racket for the most incompetent Government ever, at any level. As corrupt as Sir Joh and as useless as Baillieu/Napthine.

Had a look online today. The mass vaccination clinic in Geelong which is administering Pfizer isn't taking any walk-ins and you can't book in for a jab for the entire month of July. My local GP receives 100 doses of Astra Veneca a week and has a 7 week waiting list to fully vaccinate those in group 1B before even looking to vaccinate anyone else looking for a jab. There's also another vaccination clinic close by which only supplies Astra Veneca which has a 12 week waiting list.

Looks like I won't be getting a jab anytime soon...

Completely disagree with that.

Some of us may not like the PM’s you listed and we might disagree with their ideologies and policies and not like their records, BUT, they are all seriously intelligent and capable people.

Morrison is just a dumb campaigner.
I am certainly not claiming Morrison is as good as any of them, I said we just keep getting worse each election.

The others were all flawed in various ways and people thought were bad at the time and hoped they would be replaced by better only to be disappointed.
