How do we go about sending the boys messages to fire them up ? These comments from King mean war and the boys should hear how angry the supporters are from back home , I hope our Vic supporters get down to Geelong and go mad!

If the roles were reversed I'd be thinking "thanks a lot Kingy, now Carlton will come out breathing fire against us" which seemed to happen way back when - remember those times Richmond and Carlton would be rubbish all season and the game right before they play us there would be a media blitz on how Richmond don't apply enough pressure, they are lazy, no tackles, no defensive running then come out and absolutely mug us at the contest, chasing their butts off so much they lose the next month of games.

But they beat us and the media shut up.

Nobody is going to respect Freo more for beating Carlton, or for beating the Hawks too the week after. They'll sit up and take notice if we beat Geelong after winning those previous two.

By that point we would be sitting 10-7 with five games remaining to secure 2/3 more wins for a finals place out of three home games in a row.

I suppose the MCG is a similar size to Optus so should suit our style of play and the club gets the revenue, if the club didn’t pick it and didn’t get to have a say where it was played then it’s a joke!
One positive is when we get the win we take the money too , go boys 💜

This is complete garbage from King. I think if any club is going to be aware of the impact of travel it will be us. Having to travel when the other side doesn't is literally the opposite of a home game. If he thinks that driving to Geelong and flying to Tassie and staying in a hotel is comparable it's pretty clear he doesn't leave the house much.
The whole "keeping the season alive" is a bit of melodrama. As if they couldn't have played the game at Optus. They just didn't want to. Sure there was some risk, but mostly it would be of Carltoon quarantining at the other end. Listening to the Vic media over this week they are getting a little precious on the whole "Victoria saving the game" narrative.

How’s that a awesome result? are you a Carlton supporter?
If we have any aspirations for finals then it's good to get experience playing at the MCG. As you point out Optus was designed to be relatively close to the dimensions of the MCG, so at least from that aspect, it can feel a little more like home. Geelong is so different in its dimensions.

The club would have 100% requested the G

Primetime Saturday Night at the G is what we've been crying out for man.
The ground dimensions will suit us a lot better than GMHBA. We need as much exposure to the G as possible.
ALL clubs are in Melbourne, you're acting as if it's personal slap in the face to Freo. The AFL would have a very tough job scheduling everything. The fact we landed with that is yes, an awesome result.

what happens with ticket sales for the double header?

Do they kick everyone out? Or do you have to buy tickets for both?

How do we get our share of the revenue?

EDIT: Just read: They all get kicked out.
Should be better for our revenue, then playing at an empty optus, haf full GHMBA or at Tasmania. The club probably requested this?????

Just a reminder of the big brain we are dealing with here

King is a campaigner who has always looked down on any team not based in Victoria, inspite of him playing for a backwater club who needs handouts every year even when they were winning flags. His analysis is at this level every week but somehow he has a spot as "the stats guy"

Our vic supporters had better turn out and bring the noise , the boys need them now more than ever! i just want to smash these campaingers , i'm so fired up over this game now.

Our fans will whinge at anything. There is no real other alternative here - it’s either MCG or GMHBA, we get a game at the G, on a Sat night. Tassie preferred but we can’t bypass a government, this is the second time we’ve been impacted by COVID re-fixturing but some clubs have copped worse than us.

The fans also expecting us to get an extra home game are going to be disappointed. This to me now is a game with a finals atmosphere to it, lose and we’re just about cooked, we’re against the odds, let’s see what we’ve got against a team we owe for the last couple of games.

I think the AFL have created as close to a win-win here as they can get.

Carlton are in no way disadvantaged and the AFL get to quietly address the prime time and MCG inequity that Freo have copped. We’ve all seen the stats on this and the AFL will know it too. The King rant is just to deflect attention from them addressing the bias so they can avoid admitting there was any inequity

Now all we need to do is turn up and kick ass [emoji106][emoji41][emoji123][emoji3577]
