And I have the exact opposite feel, I think he wants to be at the Crows and is waiting on the Crows.

I agree

The think the only way Kelly moves on is if we're the ones moving him on.

He's a restricted free agent so I suspect that Crows will see what offers come up for him before making a decision on whether to keep him or let him leave as a free agent.

If we get pick 2..imagine if north pass on bidding for him. The dogs will have fresh memory from last year when we bid on JUH and if we tell them we will be bidding on Darcy, they might be very amenable to making a deal for that pick..especially if we can give them a good points boost
Nek minit ... Dogs pick Horne, Callaghan or some other gun player, and goes into deficit to match a bid on Darcy (after winning the 2021 flag)

Yeah... nah - let's make them bleed insted.

Whilst totally understand your feedback re going forward and agree our top priority is to get either by trade or 1st pick or 2 first draft picks need to be future elite mids unlike currently have . I think beyond that especially up forward your belief we will be covered is wish and prayer stuff ,bearing in mind unless Himmelberg ,Frampton along with McAdam suddenly show something they along with probably Tex and end of next year would not be on list , especially remembering that Fog hasn't currently got a contract for next year along with Lynch.
They are serious possibilities and then what is left.
In defence we may be ok relying a lot on Butts unless Talia has 1 or 2 years left .
Just want to see Doedee play his natural game and a low or rookie back up be handy mainly on what they decide with Borlase.
But please lets give McAsey and Worrel games NOW.
Anyway that's my thoughts.

Fog resigned for 2 a few weeks ago, and we're well covered until 2023. McAdam is also signed until 2023. They'll be here regardless of what they do, as we won't pay out either contract early. So with our key forward progression, we're looking at Lynch leaving this year, Frampton and Himmelberg next year, Fog and likely McAdam the year after (I think he's relying on Gollant being injured for long term viability) with Tex being the wildcard for when he leaves.

It's in a comfortable position, though we probably want to recruit someone in 2022 (or lists getting larger at that point, that would be kind).

Defense is alright, even if McAsey and Worrell don't get games just yet. Both need to be locked in the gym in the off-season though.

haha..but in this case thankfully they can't as if they hold pick 17 and don't match a bid, they can take a player at their pick 17 or wherever it lands but won't get Darcy. That is why to them coughing up pick 17 and extras to get the points to match a high bid for Darcy is a no brainer as they are getting arguably pick 1 talent....AGAIN....when like last year they played finals and this year they might even win the flag - what a system eh

Ah, I read your prev post wrong ... very wrong! :$

Probably think about moving Brodie Smith on at some point. Ok player. Overrated. Probably lost more games for us off his own boot than won with his turn overs. Prime example round 5 2016.

He's contracted until the end of 2024. Agree he's pretty average most weeks these days.

Beveridge a hater and accuse Crows of being vindictive

Rival clubs warned against potential ‘vindictive’ bids on father-son prodigy

"Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge has warned rival clubs against potential “vindictive” bids for father-son prodigy Sam Darcy, saying it takes the gloss off the national draft’s No 1 pick.

Darcy – a 203cm ruckman/key forward and son of Bulldogs legend Luke – is being touted as a potential top two pick after booting six goals for Vic Metro last weekend.

The Bulldogs have the right to match any bid for Darcy so long as they have enough draft points.

But if Darcy was taken with Pick 1 by likely wooden spooners North Melbourne and the Bulldogs matched it, he would still receive the $10,000 investment package from the AFL and title of being the first overall selection – not the prospect who lands at Arden Street.

It would follow a similar outcome to last year’s draft – where the Adelaide Crows placed a bid on Jamarra Ugle-Hagan instead of Riley Thilthorpe with Pick 1 despite knowing that the Bulldogs would match it with Next Generation Academy rights.

As such, the Crows denied Thilthorpe – who they were already essentially locked into drafting – the $10,000 investment package and mantle of being Pick 1.

Speaking on 3AW, Beveridge conceded history could repeat itself and see Darcy receive a bid with Pick 1.

“He might and it was interesting last year with “Marra”, ultimately he gets the NAB portfolio, he gets the cash reward, he gets the recognition, with the club in Adelaide which nominated him and Riley Thilthorpe misses out on that,” the Bulldogs coach said.

“Personally if you know the Dogs are going to take him and you have the No 1 pick, wouldn’t you want your lad who is coming in to get that and let your lad have that even though you want to make us pay. There are not that many vindictive list managers and recruiters in the comp.”

The Herald Sun reports that rival clubs believe North Melbourne could bid on both Darcy and Collingwood father-son prospect Nick Daicos with the No. 1 pick."

I am glad Crows made them pay full price.

I think if you posted that on the main boards that would be the opinion of just about every other non dogs supporter

Just for that, I hope Darcy gets bid on at 1 ... and it would be funny if Daicos was bid on after GWS uses Pies' pick on someone else :grimacing:
