Yep -needed to make more of his chance last night, needs to do more for mine and didn’t seem to get to the fall of the ball or work hard enough a few times last night.
When I compare his commitment to the game with someone like Atkins, who probably has less natural ability, well, it’s a bit of a sorry look for Narkle.

I cant help but thinking that the situation reminds me of when Constable was playing well and was dropped, he has never found that form again. The Ess game was not really Narkles type of game imo. but his hands were not good either.

I was certainly in his fan club but his last couple of games have been ordinary. Just doesn’t work hard enough. Coasts. When he actually gets the footy he generally makes good decisions. But he needs to extract the digit if he really wants to play AFL.

Id like to look at his GPS data. Im not particularly good at monitoring stuff like unrewarded work rate but I suspect the club thinks something like what you are saying. If you want to be a min touch player..lets say like Rohan.. then those touches must have impact. He played like a player who was fringe and is easily dismissed. Id like for him to play the next few weeks, we have two games at the G, and one at Freo. I still feel the club will say we want you to stay but if you want to go...then Mehhh.

Narkle the Mehhh player? Unless he wants to work hard and run hard, then we may as well play Constable. We do know he will get a heap of the ball.

Yes, I think Constable now deserves a run after the VFL season he’s having. It’s not just the last 2 games - he’s been outstanding all year. We are a bit deficient in the centre clearances (probably mainly due to substandard rucks) but be interesting to see if the form Constable is currently in could help in that regard?

But younger then atkins who got it for two years despite constant underperformance. And let’s not even talk about dalhaus.

If Narkle had Dahlhaus work rate hed be elite. He has 10 x the ability but 100 x times less workrate.

Notice that Narkle started wearing a knee brace a few games back, roughly around the time his form dropped off.
he's had his knee strapped going back to the Collingwood game which was one of his better games

this has been my point for a long time and ive been given large degrees of fecal matter for it...

maybe its deserved.. im just glad other people see it too.

If the defensive work rate matched the desire and execution going the other way..... the sky is the limit IMO.
Maybe he wants number 5 given he saw plenty of it chasing Parish around all night - granted, he was not alone there and Parish ripped all of them a new one.

GO Catters
Number 5?

Thought he was weak over the ball, fumbly, lazy and lacking in intensity in tonight's game. It's little wonder he can't cement a position in the team.

He should’ve been in a position to cement it after his 2 best career games months ago but then he got dropped and has had maybe 1 run at it since.

Wasn’t our worst last night but still probably bottom 5-6 in game and I’m expecting him to just get dropped again.

The narkle pile on is ridiculous. all by the same group of supporters too.

he had a poor game last night. But still had 19 touches and third highest in clearances. Hardly worthy of all the hate. Guthrie 16 disposals. Selwood has had 3 games in his last 6 with 19 disposals Or less. No one complains or piles on them. Narkle also can’t get match continuity.

yet many of these posters defend dalhaus constantly. A player who does get enormous continuity. no kicks last week and only 8 disposals and 1 tackle last night in a slowed down game that was perfect for him.

let’s attack narkle instead.

remember How you said I was ridiculous when I pointed out we tend to overemphasise poor work rate in our indiginous players.

“100 x times less workrate”.

Ffs.

My comment has nothing to do with his race ffs. You know that so dont create a strawman where there isnt one.
You will note at many times in the last 2 years i have had a go at Constable and other non indigenous players for the same thing (lack of workrate in games) so i clearly dont have a race based opinion.

My point was that narkle has far more natural talent than dahlhaus but currently far less workrate is a fair opinion and has zilch to do with anyones race or culture.

Narkle was handed opportunity on a silver platter with O’Connor and Duncan out, and what did he dish up? He was a very weak link yesterday and has to be ‘managed’ out next week.

I'm a big fan of Narkle but have to agree that it was a bit of a missed opportunity. But then has he really been given a proper opportunity? Players in general need continuity and a definite task. When he had a few games on the trot earlier in the year, we saw him really building some form. It's no coincidence that the drop in form has come when he's been shifted each week between the AFL and VFL sides.

All the games we have given Dahlhaus we could have give them too, Constable Narkle even Zuthrie and i am not a fan but would not matter if they did not play well as Dahlhaus never does........Dahlhaus like Higgins at years end should do the right thing by the club and retire

A lot harder for Narkle to do his thing when Danger plays like that. You need him to do something else in that sort of game and at this stage in his career he's not that versatile. It's not for lack of trying. I would say for team balance he's out of the best 22 at the moment but our midfield depth looks a little thin at the minute so we may have to persist. I haven't really rated him in the forward line in the past but might be worth starting him out of there and just rotating with Danger.
