What a rollercoaster game! I actually don’t think anything we did in the last quarter was all too different to what we’d been doing for the game, we just started to get more reward for the chances we were creating! I wasn’t expecting it to go from Richmond repelling anything and everything to the dam walls absolutely exploding, but I’m glad it did 😍

Grundy, Adams, Pendlebury, De Goey were insane in that last quarter. Maynard, WHE and Crisp did it all day. I’m a big believer in the theory that “just because it hasn’t been your day doesn’t mean you can’t have your moment and win us the game”, I feel like a lot of guys rode the wave of momentum and played their role when they had to despite being poor early.

A huge learning game, stoked to add to the Richmond pain, and most of all for me, the reward for a young group that can be hampered with doubt and lack of belief in game plans and system when the wins don’t come. A great finish to the day!

We definitely started hitting that inboard kick from half back, rather than kicking sideways or backwards.

Tigers defenders sweat on the long kick down the line, however in that final quarter we were able to shift their defence and get it out the back.

Also, a pure masterclass from the centre bounces played a huge part in the final quarter demolition.

Yeah, but I actually think that we were trying to bite off that kick in the first 3 quarters more than we had been in the last month or so. In that last quarter though, it felt like we couldn’t miss that kick or lose a clearance haha

That last quarter was beautiful to watch.

It's fitting that we can be the club to the end the era of Richmond.

Cotch, Jack, Dusty... put a fork in them, they are done!

Still only a game outside the 8 so I wouldn't rule them out just yet. They've got the Bears off a defeat this weekend, and Cats and GWS still to come, so it's not getting any easier for them.

All individual players have got different things that motivate em.. some are motivated by money.. some are motivated by playing as many games as they can.. some are motivated just by victory.. some are internally motivated.. some are externally motivated.. the trick is to get to know em as people.. and from there.. everyone likes to be lauded and told how well they've played.. as soon as you know the individual.. you know what will motivate em.. some don't respond well to a kick in the nads.. some only like a pat on the back and a quiet word.. some don't respond particularly well if you talk to em in front of the group.. say a quiet word in their ear of what you expect of em on the pitch.. 'go out and express your talent lad' shit like that and take all the pressure off em.. sometimes the biggest mouths in the dressing room are covering a multitude of things.. they're the nervous ones.. the ones that you think are all up for it.. that's the important thing.. sometimes you just need to say.. there's no need to shout c'mon we've done our work.. and what are the results.. I have not seen these lads celebrate goals like this for a long time.. Murphy's reaction was priceless. That's what it's all about.

Are you making your pitch for coach mate. You’ve sold me. 👍😂

I think it's the best way to get everyone to play on the same wavelength.. 'their best'.. despite being motivated by different things.

I'll probably coach soccer one day.. but not giving away my weekends at this stage..

I keep hearing that Sidey is carrying a back issue/wearing a backbrace?

If he's injured he shouldn't be playing so while he's playing he deserves to cop the shit he's getting

I just watched the game from the beginning for the first time. The game thread painted a more negative picture of the action than what I actually witnessed. We tried to move the ball quickly and had more inside 50s but nothing clicked for us. Then the last quarter was a joy to watch. Ruscoe looks so much more imposing in defence, Brown brought back memories of his early games when he seemed so much sharper and effective, while several of the younger players showed their worth in positions more appropriate to their skills. With Bianco, the value he can bring to the side with precise kicking was obvious. Maynard, Crisp, Roughead, Adams, Pendles, WHE and finally Grundy provided class and grunt. Cameron clunked crucial marks and kicked important goals. There were too many special moments to really mention. The player's effort and result will look good on Harvey's CV.
I think I was one that may have painted that picture, early it was tough to be a spectator but as they started to click into a freer style of play, you're right it became more like the football we want to see. I watched the Melbourne game live and a win is a win but that was no where near as good as what played out in the last.

For want of anything better, we seemed like we had crapped out the football blockage and relieved the constipation that has made us a little unpleasant at times. Might just have to give this one to Harvey.
