Why haven't Geelong engaged the ken Hinkley playbook and parked the bus allowing Freo to bring the margin back to 5 or 6 goals? Why are they continuing to want to score and play 4 quarters? Ken Hinkley has taught us that once you get 7 goals up you stop trying and just hanging on to win by 2 goals is the thing to do.

It is one of the reasons they are recording record low scoring rounds and averages. Whilst better team defence has made scoring harder, shithouse conversion doesn't help.

You're assuming that Bonner doesn't play every game between now and then to be able to come back in

4th, always. We either get a home PF or a home SF, and any of those is better than a home EF.

Again, the way I see it, Finals really begin in the SF. The Elimination Round is actually a “play-in” for the last two spots. If you lose in the EF, you haven’t made Finals. Period.

P.S.: That’s also why I wouldn’t mind the AFL adopting an Elimination Semifinal Round between 7-10 and 8-9. Because it wouldn’t be Finals yet. Any club who believes it is, it would be delusional.
