Traded Adam Cerra traded to Carlton for pick #6 and F3

If he leaves (as widely reported), what will Freo get in return?

  • Two good 1st round picks

  • Top 10 pick and change

  • A 1st & a 2nd

  • Later 1st rounder

  • Two 2nd rounders

  • Early 2nd rounder

  • Other 2nd round pick

  • Less than a 2nd rounder

Balta, Baker, Bolton do though. Still got a few years left in grimes prestia Lambert dusty etc. If we can add a Cerra and another best 22 type we'll be up there for a while yet.

We shall see.
Sure but they are already playing at a high level and it doesn’t have you in the 8 currently.

We'd demand Freo source another first round pick and give it to us!!! :drunk:

In all seriousness if Bolton was to leave I'd expect Freo's first, likely 10 or 11 plus your 2nd rounder 29 or 30 as a minimum.

I have a mate in recruiting at a Melbourne club who thinks it's fine. 3 standouts but very even after that, similar to the Cerra 07' draft funnily enough...
Strange that today there were multiple articles calling it a weak draft :S

I still see Saad in a slightly different light to cerra
Saad cops some flack but he’s still been all Australian and his age puts him in his prime as a known quantity of what he will bring to the table
Cerra is still young and value is based a lot around potential

Im not gonna piss in your pocket and say I don’t think Richmond shouldn’t go for him he is exactly the type of player we need imo and brings something to our midfield mix we don’t have

But I’m also a romantic and love seeing players stay loyal to the clubs that drafted them and stick it out
So if he doesn't end up at Richmond the only other acceptable outcome in my eyes is that he stays at Freo
When was Saad All Australian?

When was Saad All Australian?
Thought he was AA last season or the season before (I didn’t actually look it up)
He’s made the initial squad hasn’t he? I might be getting my wires crossed with that

Bolton is worth more than Cerra in a trade. I don't think I'm being biased in saying that?

He would be but i don't think it'd be a huge amount more.

If it was a case of Bolton for Cerra i would be very reluctant (if i were the decision maker) to throw anything else in that deal.

We will take your first this year and next thank you. Either that or this years first and second rounder

Cerra isn’t worth that much IMO.

Uncontracted, ceiling is still a little unclear, and has a fair few blindspots as a player currently.

Worth a Top 5 pick or Top 10 pick and change.

I asked the question on the draft boards where he would go this year. Apparently top 3 at least. If you are willing to pay a guy 700k a year he's worth more than pick 5-10....

I still think that if saad is pick 8 then Cerra is deft worth more than that

Saad’s manager indicated Essendon would have taken him back via the PSD if the clubs couldn’t broker a deal.

Not sure Freo’s list manager would be risking the same with North, Hawthorn, Collingwood et al picking before them.

Once Cerra nominates a club there’s not a lot the Dockers can do, but I’d expect there’d be some pick swaps to level the deal as much as possible.

Soo wouldn't that be on Carlton as well? All those clubs you mentioned would take Cerra in the draft as well?

Malthouse has a point here!!
A shit one, but a point none the less.

Does mick realise when an uncontracted player wants to leave you have no choice but to deal with the club of preference or risk not getting any compensation at all?

Go to bed Mick.

Thats the point! the club he nominates risks not getting him as well. We all seem to think uncontracted means shafting the club he is coming from. It doesn't

Not sure anyone thinks that at all. It just means the club he's leaving doesn't hold the same leverage they would if he was contracted.
A trade will definitely happen if he requests it. If its Richmond it will likely be the 2x firsts and if its Carlton it will be Pick 4 and the change id say
