Sure, he would love his team to play extra minutes going into a big game the following week. What if extra time happened to them going into ANZAC eve off a four or five days break. The draw is part of sport. It works in NRL because golden point almost turns it into footy with pot shot for goal.

Don’t know why he is whinging. A draw was a good result for us all things considered. Hawthorn would’ve rolled us if there was extra time.

Always hated the draw. It's not like soccer where a draw is a common result. There are only a couple each season, if there were like 10 draws a season I'd say keep the draw.

Nah, I’m happy with it. It’s pretty rare and a different “emotion” just adds to the experience, really. They’ve got it right with draws in the H&A season and extra time in all finals. Leave it.

Say Carlton don't beat Brisbane by 6 points in round 21, 2008, and instead draw. Play 10 minutes extra time. Fev kicks 4 in extra time. Extra 10 minutes during 2008 and Fev kicks 4 and wins the coleman? that fair he got to play an extra 10 minutes?

No surprising. This happens every time there's a draw, and you hear it from the coach whose team probably would've won if the game went on for another 5 mins.

I'm not convinced Goodwin really believes this or just wants to deflect the narrative.

Just bring in overtime. It works well in the major American leagues and the AFL is becoming more and more American as the years go on. The added drama of an overtime game will increase TV audiences as well which is exactly what the AFL and the broadcasters want.

Goodwin's wrong. A draw is a ''result'' and one that keeps Melbourne on top of the ladder - as disappointing as it was.

Australian Rules Football doesn't have to copy other codes.

In finals there should be no draws.

In home and away games, I think draws are fine.
