I actually think with the way the club is at the moment 80,000 it terrific and shows the loyalty of the Magpie Army. It will be very interesting to see what a premiership does to its memberships numbers. You would think 100,000 is the minimum but could easily push upto 120,000 with Collingwood’s massive fan base Australia wide. Be similar to Essendon who are around 80,000 and Carlton who are on 81,000 members
Not saying you wouldn’t but you didn’t get a sizeable jump after being one kick from a premiership in 2018?
Regardless it’s clear that membership today isn’t what it once was (and that goes for every club).
Collingwood had 57,408 members in 2010 but drew 59,438 to home and away games. I can’t see any Victorian club drawing that level of engagement for a very long time and yet the average Victorian club has what 55,000 members today?
Although I wouldn’t read too much into morgan results. They swing around from year to year based on on-field firtunes.if Collingwood had was a premiership in 2018 Collingwood would of broken 100,000 members in 2019 it is quite simple. Losing a grand final increased our membership to 85,000 members but a premiership would easily break the 100,000 member mark. Collingwood have huge potential to be the biggest club in terms of membership. Collingwood is the biggest club on social media have on Facebook for example 350,000 followers and according to the Roy Morgan survey have 726,000 supporters around Australia which is the most of any Victorian club (2nd is Essendon with 573,000)
True in 1996 after the Blues one the premiership they had Carlton at 1 million supporters.Although I wouldn’t read too much into morgan results. They swing around from year to year based on on-field firtunes.
I think we should have a membership tracker , similar to the one League-Unlimited has for its NRL clubs .
Will give people an idea of how excited a fan base is , and it is generally interesting to keep track of the figures.

I was informed on Wednesday that Essendon would announce 80,000 members today. However with covid taking a front seat again they may hold off announcing the milestone for the time being.Latest

Fair effort considering we will get bugger all games in Melbourne this yearI was informed on Wednesday that Essendon would announce 80,000 members today. However with covid taking a front seat again they may hold off announcing the milestone for the time being.

To be fair, total AFL club memberships have climbed significantly across the board in the last 6 years. It'll be about 200,000 higher than 2015, of which Richmond comprise about 30,000.Richmond

On the flip side, the Tigers haven’t really grown their membership the last 3 years. Point being, we can certainly expect Essendon (and Collingwood) to go past 100,000 with premiership success in the near term.To be fair, total AFL club memberships have climbed significantly across the board in the last 6 years.
