Their special sauce is the mayonnaise they leave in the sun -- and by mayonnaise I mean the type you make with eggs -- and by eggs I mean...

Yeah. In other words - it smells.

Imagine being arrested due to breaking a law that not only you weren't aware of - but that wasn't even written down anywhere. It's a joke. The idea that they haven't published because it would encourage tanking is a completely bald faced lie. It isn't published because they want to pick and choose when it applies. The fundamental basis of a sporting competition should be equal opportunity to perform on field - the AFL is run like Animal Farm.

He was making comment that it wasn't the "North Melbourne" way which seemed silly to me.

I've never heard him utter a word denigrating Richmond, Brisbane, Collingwood, Hawthorn or the Bulldog's achievements because they received priority picks so it seemed inconsistent to set this much higher bar of integrity just for us.
By saying “it’s not the North Melbourne way” he is denigrating the others achievements. And what’s wrong with setting the bar higher for us? We do it on here all the time.

This is my point when it comes to commentators. People hear what they want to hear.

Well the history rewriting AFL would claim Germany bombed Pearl Harbour...

.... please don't tell me that's the other "Animal X" work....

ALL THIS SAID - I do not expect to get a priority pick. But I don't why we'd roll over and accept it without some analysis and questions to head office first.

Because, at the time we were 8 games into a full rebuild - and the image of the club going to the AFL asking for a hand out so soon looked like having little faith in the rebuild, or panicking that it would take too long. That we were worse than we ever imagined. It reinforced that image of NMFC being a basket case who were literally hopeless and I think Kingy was pushing back against that somewhat.

All that said, the image was false and based on Nobes answering a direct question about it honestly at a presser - as far as I know, the club has never publicly raised the issue of priority picks. At the time Nobes would have been better off dead-batting the issue.

For what it's worth, my opinion is that when the priority pick issue is officially raised behind closed doors, we should be asking some questions about it. But the improvement since the bye probably means that shouldn't get our hopes up and then move on.

Kingys North Melbourne (the one from the 90s) wouldn't accept any form of handout and its the 90s Kingy commenting Id suggest........fast forward 20 years and landscape has changed significantly. The mechanisms to support struggling teams be they priority picks / allowances / distributions etc are now there for a reason...if North qualifies for the discussion to be had then why wouldnt we request / suggest etc....its the subjectivity around the granting of same that should be debated.

Former Kangaroos hardman Glenn Archer has opened up about his decision to step down from North Melbourne’s board earlier this month, revealing negative media coverage had taken a toll on him and his family.
Speaking on the TAB Inside 50 Podcast with Crawf and Quinny on Tuesday, the 311-game Kangaroos champion said he would continue to
support the club in an unofficial capacity wherever possible, but the “domino effect” of criticism making its way to his children meant his official position as a club director was no longer worth the effort.
“I’m always going to be there for the club, absolutely,” Archer said.
“If they ring me tomorrow, I’m helping. But I don’t need the board position. The club’s in good shape, and I don’t have to deal with idiots like that writing stuff about (me).”

Glenn Archer has explained why he quit the North Melbourne board.
The Shinboner of the Century said while he had avoided reading papers and watching the news for years, he was always aware of criticism over his influence at North Melbourne.
“My mates get a kick out of sending the articles on WhatsApp … it’s generally a Caroline Wilson or a Damian Barrett having a crack at me about something. That’s how I get my information,” Archer said.
“I’ve bitten back once at Damian and once at Caro, but it’s just a waste of time.
“You just give them more ammunition. You whack them, they just come back twice as hard again, with things that are 100 per cent wrong.”

“As you can probably tell, them two (sic) aren’t on my Christmas card list.
“It’s extraordinary being on a football club board. Once you become privy to all the information - so you know exactly what the information is, you know exactly what you’re doing, you know exactly where you’re going - I just find it extraordinary how wrong the media gets it.
“It’s a horrible existence, I reckon, when you’re at that sort of level of journalism. They’re just trying to put people down, ruin people’s lives, make sure they lose their job, make sure someone gets the sack, cause complete friction around clubs and individuals. Why would you want to do that? I don’t get it … You could not pay me enough to do something like that.”
Archer revealed he had considered taking journalists to court, but said he hasn’t “got four years to piss-fart around with lawyers”.

“They know that you’re not going to sue for defamation because it’s too hard. It’s a three-four year process. I’ve had a couple of things where I know that it’s just untrue and I can prove it.”
Archer said he was looking forward to supporting North Melbourne without being at the centre of criticism.
“It has a domino effect, because your kids read it. They’re into social media - they’re a little bit older - and then you’ve got to answer their questions. ‘Why are they saying that about you?’
“It’s good to just sit in the background and do your bit, and you don’t have to put up with idiots writing stuff about you.”

Yep. Also the AFL industry spent close to two decades actively trying to kill Kingy's North Melbourne.

The irony here is that Arch has just probably written Barrett's next Sliding Doors for him, and that Wilson will take him to court for calling her an idiot.
I hope so. People will be queuing around the block to give evidence in support of Arch's defence of truth.
