Yeah understand that, most games if not all have been on 7plus or Kayo but get people maybe can’t see them. As long as opinions are based on a fair sample size and not the ‘caught the last 20 mins in a game we got flogged’ type scenario.
I’m not sure I’d base a young defensive key position blokes worth after one game against a good team but certainly hope we see a few things we all like. A win would great, will be a Gatorade shower for the ages!!

I watched two free to air games and based my opinion on that viewing. I didn't think he looked solid enough to be a KPD nor did he feature much in play. He certainly did not look accomplished enough to step into AFL ranks. Nevertheless I will reserve my final judgement till seeing him against Port. At least he will give some indication of whether or not he can play at this level. I was surprised we did not persevere longer with Keane but he obviously has some deficiencies.

Jesus, am I starting to… like Ruscoe???

My respect for the bloke has gone through the roof the past fortnight. Definitely judged the book by its cover and irrespective of what he does or doesn’t achieve in his football career it seems he has his head screwed on right and cared about his mates and also opponents. Huge respect

100%. I was definitely one of those who wrote him off too quickly.

He was simply being played out of position. If you rewatch his draft highlights he is playing the exact same role to aplomb with us. His kicking is pretty spectacular as is his attack on the ball (something that was severely lacking as a forward).

Also completely agree about his personality. Seems like a real heart and soul player who genuinely cares about his teammates.

Yeah fair enough, I mean supporters in general not directed at you mate. I feel Keane has stalled a bit and hasn’t come on as much as I’d hoped for. I was sure he’d be out next fullback and still may be. I wonder if the lack of footy due to covid has slowed down development. Hopefully one of the Irish boys is a tick.

So many people here getting rid of both Cox and Lynch??? One will stay and one will go. We need depth, it’s tricky for Lynch he may want to try another club or he may be pouched as he’s showing really good signs. Cox is in the same boat, stay and maybe get some games but is he going to be in the same position at another club. The swans maybe as a ruck/forward, the cats as a Ruck not sure. Honestly I’d keep one for list management but is that fair to them?
Don't think it'll be up to us in the end.
Lynch will look for more senior opportunities now he knows he is capable, and Cox seems to have been left behind and I don't think he'll like just playing VFL.

I haven't seen enough of him either to judge his true worth as a player. Your comment was fair. In previous seasons we would have had numerous chances to watch these VFL players in action just as they would have had a chance to show selectors that they were deserving of a game.

Ruscoe's early performances were not simply a result of him being played out of position. All of our debutants have been played out of their ideal position. The major focus of the criticism was his inability or unwillingness to tackle or put his body on the line. That is the biggest and most impressive change since his move to defense.

The scoreboard may be irrelevant but the performance of the players should make or break their immediate future. Not the draftees from last year, but for all other players selected to play, their future at the club should be contingent on their performance in the remaining games this year. Some tough and decisive decisions need to be made on players who have been around the club for several years without giving much evidence that they are up to playing football at the highest level.

I think 18 weeks into the season, the club and those responsible for our list management, by now would be decided upon the players that they will look to move on from the list, whether by trade or delistings.

I thought the club might want to trial one or two players in the AFL before making a decision e.g. Tohill.

Sad but true another Collingwood trained ruck leaves.

C Brown plays a different role, I’d like Murphy to be given a go in Madge’s role but the coaching staff seem intent on backing in Madgen.
I think they should trial Murphy as the runner. I think that's his most suited AFL role.

McCrae in. I bet the PA midfielders will be quaking in their boots when they take the field knowing they will be combatting such a formidable opponent. Seriously I just have no comment other than I predict we will be absolutely smashed in the clearances. Obviously Collingwood selectors are as keen as many of us not to have Harvey coach the team next year.

Sier is the interesting one.He has been among our bests for the last three games in the VFL and yet despite our midfield being weakened and losing badly most weeks,he still can’t get a game.I just wonder what has he done to offend the coaching staff so much? There must be more to this than meets the eye.

I think it shows where we are.

Playing the future.

Its plain and day, Sier is not part of that when you are overlooked by a 19 year old.

And yet the Brown brothers and Rantall are seemingly part of that future vision of which you speak, despite none of them doing anything to surpass Sier’s best games for Collingwood. Different standards demanded of different players it seems.

(And before anyone says it, Cal’s good game two weeks ago is not a sufficient rebuttal of my argument. One good game out of 70-odd is more likely an outlier than a trend).

Anyway, regardless, clearly The Bear is gonzo.
