2021 NHL Season

Caps move Brenden Dillon to the Jets for a couple of second rounders in 2022 and 2023. Didn’t really want to but needed to free up cap space after Seattle took Vanecek which was really our worst possible scenario.
With the bulk of our cap space going to Ovi it’s going to leave us hard up against it again

not a good contract, surprised the avs did it
It's not a reflection on his talent. He's the face of the team and heart of the locker room. He's the youngest captain in franchise history (in all of NHL history, at the time) and is the reason that players say, when they leave the team, that it's the best locker room in the league. Buying a lot more than just goals with that.
I'm actually very happy with it, it means he'll be here for life (Hopefully) and have his number retired.

Nice to see that poor media coverage isn't just in the AFL.

I follow the Colorado Avalanche, and yesterday there were articles such as "Landeskog and Avs heading toward nasty break up" and the like.

Today: "Landeskog signs new 8 year deal with the Avs"

Absolutely wrapped with the signing, heart and soul of the team.

Tampa Bay lost quite a lot of quality. Johnson, Goodrow, Gourde, Coleman, Schenn, Savard.
Then again we did re-sign Point to a big contract.

Carolina WTF are they doing.

More later.
What assets/picks did TBL get in return? They probably realise with that team, probably looking at a steep decline in quality getting out early. Setting up for maintaining relevancy into the near future

Cap space. And a 5M contract to stick on LTIR when they run out of cap space.

Probably.

Got a question for you DG, PEB, how good is he?

Oh, he isn't.
Our management has trouble blooding the kids unless they're Norris/Hart calibre out of College.
We have other options in the AHL that should be getting a shot but veterans always win over the green.

He's clearly on his last years in the league. Maybe I'm just seeing him in comparison to the kids on his wings, but he looks slow and lumbering. Can't drive much play but he's the kind of guy that tries his heart out for you. He'll bleed when you ask and won't even question. BIG team player, just imo not up to snuff with the skill level of the NHL these days.

Cody Ceci continues to get paid way too much money to try and play hockey.

Get rid of Ethan Bear ($2M) for Ceci ($3.25M)?
Ken Holland…
My question is what did Holland like about the '19-'20 Leafs defense so much that he went out and bought 1/3 of it?

Alternatively, maybe he could have saved the money used on Barrie, Ceci, and Keith, kept Bear, and pitched 10mil at Hamilton? (providing Dougie would OK going back to AB).
