I was going to start off talking about how the past 4 games have been decided by an average of 6 points - then Clarko resigned...so today - Bombers and Swans fans are united in their joy at the chaos enveloping Hawthorn and know there isn't a fanbase more deserving. I'm sure before our game fans of both sides will quietly raise a glass and savour the moment....well no, they'll probably still be laughing so hard they can't walk but what ever, on with the actual game.
If you're after a dominant theme for our most recent encounters its close, weird and controversial. Seems when we play each other, weird s**t just happens y'all.
Swans put Fremantle away by 40 points after an arm-wrestle early while the Bombers managed to kick an own goal and lose to GWS sending themselves out of the 8. Which doesn't mean jack because its the pointy time of the year and Swans want that top 4 spot while Bombers want lucky number eight - a win this weekend keeps that dream alive.
The return of Cunningham and Mills from lockdown is welcome, both were in super form before isolation so here's hoping they haven't lost a beat. Stringer continues to put teams away if given half a chance - Rampe and the lads down back are going to have to be lively and Francis has been recalled to boost their defence. George Hewett
will almost certainly be introducing himself to Darcy Parish
in a midfield battle we need to win. Kennedy & Parker were epic last week and if they can turn it on again it will certainly go a long way in securing a win. Not sure who the Bombers are going to get on Heeney with his new licence to roam schtick but good luck with that.
Swans still need to press for consistent four quarter footy, our first quarters against GWS & Freo were nothing to write home. Bombers got the jump on us in our game earlier this year so they will certainly fancy themselves a chance, at one point they went on a 6 goal run over the 1st and 2nd half. No doubt Rutten will try and block our corridor run however since the bye our pressure has been increasing and its definitely improved since our last game against them, if we bring that pressure the Bombers will have other things to worry about.
It was strange game for our forwards last week, felt like both Paps & Buddy could have kicked another 4 but things just weren't there for them. Heeney potted 5 lazy ones and it was great to see him up and about. This weeks special shout out goes to the forwards for their pressure up and around goal which was just amazing to watch because so many opportunities came off that great work.
