I wouldn’t consider Watts a fail. We got him cheap, both in trade capital and salary with Melbourne chipping in, and it almost came off. He was really unlucky in the end getting that injury just as he seemed to be putting it all together.
Yea I feel the same and I wasn't a fan of the idea originally, had he gone to a decent club as a kid and played predominantly across half-back he could've easily fulfilled his potential.

Being Pick 1 has a lot of drawbacks. You go to the shittest club of the time and they expect you to be the next big thing and single-handedly pull them out of the poo. If he went to Sydney as a Pick 40 he probably has a great career.

Lol these guys cost us a grand total of pick 32. Worth the punt. Also you forgot Motlops 3 goals in the QF last year.

The highest profile capture cost $2,800,000 over 4 years (works out to $51,800 per game), and arrived needing three consecutive shoulder surgeries which stymied each of his first three preseasons.

Had some nice moments here and there, but at that price and given he should’ve failed the medical in the first place, it’s been a shocker.

One of those ‘idea/reputation of > reality of’ moves that can see you miss by a hair’s breadth in the end.

It was a small sample size, but prior to breaking his leg early in 2019 he looked like an AA-caliber Tom Stewarty-type interceptor/creator down back.

Such a cruel end just as he looked to have seriously found his niche.

The guy picked with the pick we have up for him just kicked 7 against the Crows.

Your point is totally valid, but I'm pretty sure its been posted here before that we were definitely in to Fritsch in that draft.

Havent heard that one.

His rise this year has been pretty spectacular

I hear all the talk of WA probably getting the grand final, even though their premier is full on with restrictions.
Is there a reason the SA government is not going hard at it to host the grand final, would be an amazing opportunity.

Remember that round 1 game against Melbourne a few years back where we had four debutants* and it was Hinkleys best win to date?

I sure do

Honestly I reckon Watts, whatever we we’re paying him, Rockliff and Motlop have been all a bit average. Motlop; showdown tick, probable pass. Rockliff; serviceable, possible fail. Watts; swimming and ****, complete fail.
Watts probably busted in that we gave up a second rounder and he only managed 21 games for us.

Motlop has been up and down but considering he didn’t cost us anything to acquire and salary ended up being pretty conservative was okay. A bit neither here nor there.

rockliff cost us nothing trade wise but a decent salary but we were never tight for salary anyway. Probably disappointing considering what would have been expected of him but I reckon he’s had a massive impact off the field at the club.

The "best win ever" game against Melbourne was round 1 2019, not 2013.

Why is Lynch playing?

If it's in the Crows' best interests to play him over their other options in the same position, don't cut him. If it's not in their best interests to play him over their options, don't play him. It doesn't make any sense.

We're still trying to make sense of it (amongst many other things) over on our board. It doesn't make sense to have telegraphed to the competition that we're going to de-list him and Talia if they've still got some trade (compensation) value, which of the two Lynch would definitely appear to have.

Whoever wants to pick either of them up just needs to come to terms and then wait until the Free Agency period is over and then pick them up for nothing in the DFA.

The only reason to play Lynch at the moment would be to put him into the shop window, but not entirely sure why we would be doing that if his compensation value as a DFA is NIL

felt like Perth was gonna get it last year when they should've got it over Brisbane, feels inevitable

Richmond’s demise is reportedly being celebrated as a victory at AFL headquarters after claims the two parties have been at war over “loathed” behaviour.

Reports of a deteriorating relationship between the reigning premiers and the governing body surfaced earlier this year following the Tigers’ nightclub incident, which saw a $20,000 fine handed to Richmond star Shai Bolton.

According to veteran footy journalist Caroline Wilson, the messy saga is one of the reasons the AFL is privately happy the Tigers are almost certainly set to miss the finals this year.

CARLTON has informed Levi Casboult that he will not be offered a contract for 2022.

Jesus imagine being a Richmond supporter, looking at your -80 free kick differential, then seeing that the administrative body that governs your game is overjoyed you haven't succeeded.

It didn’t bother them before. Their differential has been bad for a while already.

Remember we did the same thing with Neade.
