Well, with Mackay retiring it's time for me to retire my "security blanket" avatar. Possibly username too.

Though I'll wait until after all the drafts just in case we talk him into going around again. In fact I wonder if that's the plan? Announce retirement to head off any speculation or criticism when comparing the treatment of Talia/Lynch.

Once we're all distracted being excited about the Big Fish of trade week and the Shiny New Pick 2 we won't notice that "With the final pick of the 2021 rookie draft..."

Drop in there now that the club offered him a rookie deal for 2022 but he chose to retire so that they can say We always wanted Mackay to play on. Nothing's changed from the club's point of view.

It's no secret that many on here have been very vocal about Mackay, especially in certain threads, but let's stick to the positives. He's clearly been an outstanding clubman over the journey and he always threw himself in the contest despite his frame. Thanks for your service.
